Navy OKs gay marriages in military chapels

Anticipating the elimination of the military ban on homosexuality, the Office of the Chief of Navy Chaplains has decided that same-sex couples in the Navy will be able to get married in Navy chapels, and that Navy chaplains will be allowed to perform the ceremonies -- if homosexual marriage is legal in the state where the unions are to be performed.

Navy chaplains will be allowed to perform the ceremonies

The real question is ....

will navy chaplains be required against their moral ethics, against their Christian values, to perform those ceremonies?

Or resign, if it is mandated.

The sad thing is, things have gotten so bad, the story doesn't even shock me. :emot-questioned:

Isn't that the truth, it is pretty bad when this world is such a sad shape, that things like this don't shock us anymore.

Does this mean we are just giving up on the state of the ways things are in this world? :noidea:

I hope the chaplains don't pull out of the military... I would imagine that would have a negative impact on many troops who have faith and enjoy the benefits of having a chaplain with them.

I know of a young man who went into the service in order to become a chaplain and has completed his trainings, he says yes they must do as commanded and being in the service as a chaplain doesn't give them their personal freedoms of opinion or choices to go against them own moral ethics. This young man is now in the process of leaving the military because of these very situation. Honestly though all I have to go by on this is this young mans point of view and really wonder what would happen to one if they refused to perform these wedding.

He would be charged with disobeying an order, as any other serviceman would be. When you join the service, you belong to them and are require to obey direct orders, no matter what your personal morals or faith tells you. He could protest, but he would more then likely loose in the long run.
