Christians way outnumber Jehovah's witnesses. What would happen, if a few Christians decided that when they see Jehovah's witnesses going door to door, they decided to accompany them on their walks, and provide a balance to what the JWs have to say?

With gentleness and respect of course. The same would go for Mormon missionaries.

Wow. I have never heard this suggestion before and wonder how it would work out. There is unfortunately the likelihood that arguments would break out in front of the householders and the witness would be poor all round. I can't see the JWs, Mormons and Christians playing nicely imo but if the Christians managed to keep their gentleness and respect, as you suggested, they may even win some of the opponents.

It would be an interesting headline.

The question I wonder about is how would the lost see this? Most have no idea what the differences are between the three and would see this as a bunch of in-fighting about who is right. It would, more then not, turn them off toward God, as we are His representatives.

Should be fun as they would probably consider you a cult as well.

Love to get it on YouTube.

That is a funny idea there itself. There is a video on youtube of some guy talking to a couple of Morman Missionaries.

I have to say, that this is not my original idea. Some one was in chat last night, talking about how she was struggling with how to know who was telling the truth. JWs came to the door, and shortly thereafter, another man strode up, who seemed to sort of appear from nowhere, and ask the JWs if they were Jehovah's Witnesses. They said yes, they were. The man then informed this chatter, that what they were saying, was not the true gospel, or words to that effect. There was some discussion and JWs got a bit annoyed, and left, and the man did also. The chatter, moments later, looked for the man to try to figure out where he had come from, but he was nowhere to be found, and the chatters house was positioned such that he should not have been able to just vanish quickly.

I gathered that she was implying, that this seemed like someone sent from God to her (like maybe an angel), in answer to her prayers about not knowing who to beleive. She took that to mean that Christianity, as we know it, not the JW cult, was where she was supposed to be.

That story, is what inspired this idea, and maybe, someone will accept the challenge, and give it a try, maybe I will.

Have to admit they way the JW knock on the door of strangers, or standing on the street holding those booklets for hours. It is not an easy thing to do for many of us. It is something we should all think about.

Blessings

If someone is led to follow them around to publicly argue against their teachings, who am I to stand in their way. I find that I have more then enough chances during a day to talk to people about God and salvation through Christ that I don't take advantage of, I have no need to or time to do anything else. IF I don't even do what we are all called to do, I doubt God will want me to do anything else.

With gentleness and respect of course. The same would go for Mormon missionaries.

I remember one time as a kid in high school, a team of LDS (mormon) men came to the house. I answered the door and the men introduced themselves and when my dad got to the door, started their presentation. In the denomination I attended (and still do), we had a weekly magazine and in the front cover was a list of our fundamental truths. My dad was not one who grew up in a Christian house and was barely tredding water with these men. A progam I was involved with in church aimed at using compatition and fun to teach Biblical truths. Being that dad was having trouble, I grabbed a copy of the magazine and went to help. I just asked them simple questions based on the truths I grew up with, such as "I believe that the Bible is the only inspired and infallible word of God", and explain as best a high schooler could why I believed it was true. Then men would explain their beliefs and I would respond if I could.

My brother came out and tried to "help", but he was only into confronting them and accusing them of things. I told him to leave and apologized to the men for his outbrust, and continued my presentation. The emotion registered on the men's faces: amazement. They were used to being chased off and swore at. Here, their faces seemed to say, we are treated well.

What I learned out of this is that understanding the truth that we claim to believe and why we believe it, and presenting it in a gentle non-accusitory way goes a long way with people, much like we are urged to pracitice in the Apologitcs forum.

I guess my point is this: how well do we know the faith we follow? Is it simply a collection of trendy verses that we see behind the goalposts at NFL football games? Or is it something that we can share in an informed manner to those that are lost or at least confused? 1 Peter 3:15-16 tells us this: But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.

Well, the story ends with the LDS men clearly befiddled. They said as much: Well, it is good to see that someone does know what they believe. And with that they left. I never met them again, but I felt something then that I have not felt since. Like I had made my Heavenly Father proud.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
