Hi all! Just a question at this point---how & where does Israel fit into your understanding of the catching up (commonly called rapture)?

Jesus will come back to defend Israel, we are caught up with Him when He appears.

Zechariah 14:1 Behold, the day of the LORD is coming,

And your spoil will be divided in your midst.

2 For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;

The city shall be taken,

The houses rifled,

And the women ravished.

Half of the city shall go into captivity,

But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

3 Then the LORD will go forth

And fight against those nations,

As He fights in the day of battle.

4 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,

Which faces Jerusalem on the east.

And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two,

From east to west,

Makinga very large valley;

Half of the mountain shall move toward the north

And half of it toward the south.

Revelation 14:1 Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads.

Matthew 24:30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Luke 21:27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

Luke 21:34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

I believe that all Israel will be saved when Jesus appears.

Romans 11:25 For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written:

“ The Deliverer will come out of Zion,

And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;

27 For this is My covenant with them,

When I take away their sins.”

Zechariah 12:7 “The LORD will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall not become greater than that of Judah. 8 In that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the Angel of the LORD before them. 9 It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

10 “And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.

I should have been more clear in my question. Just not sure how to phrase it.

In Romans 11:25 we are told that blindness in part has come upon Israel til the fulness of the Gentiles come in & after that it says all Israel shall be saved. This is still a future event, so where does this fit in your understanding of the 'catching up'? Where in the timeline of when you think the 'catching up' happens do you think Israel is saved?

At this point, I don't see how we could be caught up without them & am asking these questions to find out how others see it. I know there are lots of threads on the "rapture", but none seem to address the significance of where Israel fits into it.

Joshua-777, Thank you for both your posts. We are pretty much on the same page, but I am still having trouble with timing: as "in the twinkling of an eye". That's how fast the catching up is supposed to be, so I am wondering how fast the salvation of Israel will be. Does that make sense? Maybe I need a better understanding of what 'in the twinkling of an eye' means?

I think "In a twinking of an eye" is when Jesus comes, we are caught up with Him, it will literally be the second He comes. When He comes all Israel will be saved because He is coming to defend Israel against the nations, when Israel sees their Messiah, "they will look on Me whom they pierced." They will be filled with the Holy Spirit, "Spirit of grace and supplication," and thus be saved. So, When He comes, believers will be caught up with Him, and Israel will become believers.

It is also possible that Israel will see revival and then He comes, but scripture points me to Israel being saved "When He comes."
