The video works iin a world of dumb-downed definitions. I understand what our brother in the video was saying, and he clarifies it somewhat in the first sentence under the video that few will read.

But, of course, there is nothing new in his title. It flows from the ‘evangelical’ mantra that “Christianity is not a religion, it is. a relationship.” This is a sad state of mind for those who cannot handle “the holy conjunction”=AND.

Over a half century ago, Elton Trueblood described our culture as a cut-flower society. Cut off from its roots, it withers and dies. Anyone who is rooted in the history of the first two millenia of Christianity knows that those from Augustine to Wesley to Trueblood, wrote of true religion versus false religion. But today, many have abandoned truth and smothered it with experience.

This points to a major ‘disease’ of our day. C.S. Lewis provided an antidote for the spirit of our times, for any who wish to take the medicine, with his rule for reading:

“…after reading a new book, never allow yourself another new one till you have read an old one…keep the clean sea breeze of the centuries blowing through our minds…”

Unfortunately, the "Church" cut itself off from its Hebraic-based roots a long, long time ago, replacing it with a European Hellinistic-based institution.

Anyone who is rooted in the history of the first two millenia of Christianity knows that those from Augustine to Wesley to Trueblood, wrote of true religion versus false religion. But today, many have abandoned truth and smothered it with experience.

If you want to divorce experience from Christianity, then you will have to remove the majority of the Bible. The Bible teaches more through experience than it does theological dogma.

The Apostle John preached "what we have seen and heard." The Apostle Paul turned to Jesus after having had a direct encounter with Him.

The Scriptures focus a lot more on "correct living" than on "correct thinking". If any of the Apostles were here and heard all our religious and doctrine squabbles, they would be horrified at what a sad state our religion had become.

I know a lot of people have criticized this guy for not being perfectly theologically accurate on every single point on both YouTube and on the internet in general. However, I do like the main idea of his message and I give him a lot of credit for doing it in a classy and poetic way. Very cool video!

All religion means to me is to "practice" and now we have all these Christians saying there not religious and they suck at worshiping God. Practice what you preach, preach

the word and Worship God. Personally I don't like religion either but it's necessary. If you do it the way Jesus designed it to be in it's purest form then it's a good thing.

Which Jesus is he referring to in the video?

...

There is an idea of Jesus that is not Scriptural. I think that the King James Scriptures are what is needed to get the right message about the Lord Jesus.

Wow! Are you trying to suggest that merely using a translation other than KJV has caused this video to present the wrong Jesus??? noidea.gif

Hmm, I should see if there's a KJV Only topic around here. That issue can get heated mighty quick.

As for the video, I get what the guy is saying, but I think his message winds up being touted more by people who don't know Jesus as a reason for not going to church, rather than embracing the beauty of Jesus in a healthy community. "Religion" is rarely used in a good way in the New Testament. About the only time it comes close is in the book of James, where it says (in James 1:27), "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

The basic point is: You want to say you're some pious religious guy, well at least take care of the orphans and widows and live right, okay?

Jesus didn't come to bring us" religion" but much rather a living, moment-by-moment relationship with the RedeemerHimself, "God-enfleshed" (John 1:1,14). The world is jam-packed with religion of all shapes & sizes, none of which will take a man to God's heaven. "Not by works of righteousness which we have done......." Religion is man doing all he can to placate God; salvation is God doing all He did to bring us thru Christ to Himself! Quickly get a copy of Bruxy Cavey's book, "The End Of Religion!" and give God all the glory!

Let names & sects & parties fall,

And Jesus Christ be All in all!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
