Riches In Heaven

As I have sat in Church all my life and hear sermon after sermon teaching about the rewards that await us in heaven. Talks about this mansion and that mansion. The crowns of gold and jems and even "store up your riches in Glory". In addition there are all the jokes about "When you enter through the gates of heaven...... " and it goes on to joke about how good you are here on earth will decide on what kind of transportation you will have (ie, car, bike, skateboard....). All of this may fancy many peoples toes and they strive to be "The Best Christ -Like Christian" they can be so they can get better things in Glory. It seems to me that many become like this just to get things when they make it to heaven. This then becomes a goal rather then a reward. Maybe I am just seeing things the wrong way or that I am just not around "true" christians. My idea of all this is that I will be all I can be, with the Lords help, here on earth, help those in need, regardless of what may be waiting for me in heaven. To be totally honest, I don't even want recognition or a reward for doing things I have done. I do them because He has placed in me a desire, a yerning, for His Will. The work that is done is reward enough for me. I would much rather do something and have no one find out, rather then do something and have people know I did it (we are talking about a good thing here, not a bad thing :oww: :oww: ). Am I totally wacked on this idea?

Hi Rootabagga.

I think your heart attitude is good...at the end of the day we are servants doing what we are called to do...Matthew 6:1 "Be careful that you don't do your charitable giving before men, to be seen by them, or else you have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

We should exhort each other to be the best that we can be...and to fully enter into the labours that Jesus has ordained for us to accomplish...to do this we must work out our sanctification and hunger and thirst after righteousness and cry out for G-d to fill us and equip us through the Holy Ghost....

Eternal life seems a pretty good reward....and it hasn't really entered the mind of man all that the L-rd has in store for us later....we just get glimpses and see through a misty glass...but you can be sure it will be glorious.

Hebrews 11:6 Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.

Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Gal 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Gal 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

2Timothy 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but to all who have loved His appearing.

1Corinthians 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

1Co 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

1Co 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

1Co 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

1Co 3:14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

1Co 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Amen Angel!

Rootabagga,

If a person has a goal to receive a bunch of riches in heaven, that person will likely be the one riding the skateboard.

God knows our true motives and hearts. He will decide accordingly how to reward us. We have no righteousness of our own so the works will be performed by Jesus through us, not of ourselves. He just needs a willing vessel.

BLessings!

The Lord could put me in the dingiest corner of heaven, or let me be His doormat, I dont care. As long as I get in there, and can bask, even if from afar, I will be content. God be praised.

Thank you for all your replies, now I don't feel as though I am the only one who doesn't look for the rewards. One thing came to mind while reading what you wrote Ayin Jade:

"The Lord could put me in the dingiest corner of heaven, or let me be His doormat, I dont care. As long as I get in there"

I do not know how to say this and not have it be misunderstood, but I do not even mind if I don't make it to heaven. I know that sounds weird, a christian not caring about getting into heaven, but what I mean is that if it came to what I do here on earth will judge that, then send me to hell. I do not do things to get anything, not even getting into heaven. I don't know maybe I am messed up in my thinking regarding heaven, God, what we do on earth, salvation........

If you have ever fallen in love to the extent that you are without any rationality left in you, and found out that that person feels the same way about you, then you have just a tiny bit of a hint of your riches in heaven may be like.

Hello, and God Bless you, today and always.

My friend in Christ, you are blessed beyond your natural understanding....you have something that seems to be very rare in this day, sad to say, You have a spirit of humility......

Being humble before our Lord, and His Church, His Body, You no doubt, in my mind......Have many treasures that await you in eternity.

I see "LOVE" in your posts, and without LOVE, anything you have did, or will do, is only wood, hay, or stubble........But you, my friend, are building the upon foundation of "Christ in you"......precious stones, gold, silver...In LOVE.....For which you shall be rewarded in the life to come.

Jesus, your Lord and my Lord....Loves you...........you have been a blessing to me because we have passed each other in our walk of faith.

1st Cor. ch. 13:8...KJV...."Charity (LOVE) never faileth"

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
