When I was little & we'd go 2 church, I was alwayz fascinated when ppl spoke in tongues.. When I turned 18 God gave me the gift of speaking in tongues 2!

But, is it wrong 4 me 2 ask God 4 the gift of interpretation of tongues?? I use 2 pray 4 it all the time when I was younger, but I had it in ma heart 2 start praying 4 it again 2day.. I don't want God 2 think or feel that I'm questioning Him, cuz I'm not @ all.. but it'd b awesome & He knows how much it'd mean 2 me.

Of course not! Paul encouraged such. :)

Absolutely not!

1 Cor 14

1 Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. 2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue[a] does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. 3But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort. 4 Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. 5 I would like every one of you to speak in tongues,[b] but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues,[c] unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.

I'd ask for prophesy too :).

As the ladies before me say, no, it is not wrong, but check to see if your purpose for such gift is pure. The gifts are ministering tools to help and bless the church with. The Bible tells us that faith works by love, the gifts, let me put it this way, doesn't "work" unless you love the people in your church (each and every one). Yes, pray, and with love in place you may experience that gift in your life, but remember it's not your gift, it is the person who are bless by it, who receives it. Paul said that the Corinthian desired to be an vessel for the ministry gifts, yet show I a more excellent way and that way was - love.

May you have as many gifts as you will according to the level of your love.

The definition of prophecy depends upon the context in which its used.

Typically and Biblically it meant preaching, holding forth on the Good Book, public speaking, sermonizing, etc.

It did NOT usually refer to predictions of the future even though that context is legitimate.

The most important aspect of Protestant Christian worship today is Entertainment; the dog and pony show, Las Vegas style productions of music singing and dancing, televised gospel, the Big Grin on Sunday morning. It has little or nothing to do with intense sincere personal worship of God in the name of Jesus Christ.

True prophecy is Biblically based speaking - usually in church, sometimes predicting the future, always Christ centered.

"If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discernment, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in Christianity, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that their very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it."

- Charles Finney

If predictions are what you want, try this one on for size; America is presently under the judgment of God. We've turned our collective back on Him, told Him to hit the road and to stop interfering with our lives. In answer to this He has done as we have asked and allowed us to wander down a wide road that leads to destruction.

I met a girl who sang the blues

And I asked her for some happy news

But she just smiled and turned away

I went down to the sacred store

Where I'd heard the music years before

But the man there said the music wouldn't play

And in the streets the children screamed

The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed

But not a word was spoken

The church bells all were broken

And the three men I admire most-

the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost-

They caught the last train for the coast

The day the music died

And they were singing

bye bye Miss American Pie

Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry

Them good ol' boys were drinking whiskey and rye, singing...

This'll be the day that I die

This'll be the day that I die

- American Pie lyrics by Don Mclean

but that's just me, hollering from the choir loft...

Keep using your faith, but remember that that is not what is important, but what is important is fighting for the fruits of the spirit and not the interpretation of tongues. That doesnt have much meaning unless your a mass crowd preacher like billy graham, or maybe Joel Osteen. The fruits however are extremely important because they support spiritual growth.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
