Types help to illuminate doctrine. We can learn more about the ac's character from biblical types. We've mentioned Judas and him being called the son of perdition and the ac being called the son of perdition, 2h. 2:3 and also the disciples not knowing who he was until it was made known as we also learn in Thess. the lawless one will be revealed. But when we read about Judas we can learn something about the character of the son of perdition.

Johns account: Jn. 12:3-6

Mary then took a pound of very costly perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was intending to betray Him, said, "Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to poor people?" Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it.

A few obvious things, he likes money, he is a liar and a thief, and only fakes having an interest in the poor for personal gain. But if we look at the other gospel accounts of this event we find something else about Judas

Marks account, Mk. 14:4

But some were indignantly remarking to one another, "Why has this perfume been wasted?"

Matthews account, Mt. 26: 8-9

But the disciples were indignant when they saw this, and said, "Why this waste? For this perfume might have been sold for a high price and the money given to the poor."

So in Johns account Judas said it, in Marks account some of them said it and in Matthews account all of them said it. What we have here is a case of the Holy Spirit showing us how influencing Judas was and just how influencing the antichrist will be. The man pulled a lot of weight with the disciples and so too will the ac attempt to do the same.

Judas and the lawless one are the only two persons to be demon possessed by Satan personally.

Thank you Zemke for your insight. I am noticing a lot of contraversy over certain aspects here when it come to AntiChrist.

These being if the AntiChrist is one or multiple persons. If the AntiChrist has already come and gone.

What you are reflecting here through scripture is the very opposite of the essence or attitude of Christ. Which of course can give us insight to the very persona of the AntiChrist/s.

Judas was indeed a wolf in sheep's clothing. As you pointed out with scripture though, he was VERY influencial. This is something to watch for. For whether some of us believe an AntiChrist or many AntiChrists are to come, the AntiChrist has already come...or otherwise....there is a lot of attitude in today's society that is very negative when it comes to Jesus and all that He did, taught, was, and is.

So no matter our beliefs here, it is something worth praying about.

.... I have pointed out numerous obvious attacks of Gog and Magog here on the forum in the past, all I have ever received for the trouble is ridicule and scorn....

Well Beloved

Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 1 John 2:18

We Know That At Least A Thousand Years From Now

And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. Revelation 20:7-8

They're Gonna Come A Marching On Jesus The Christ And On His Jerusalem Town

And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Revelation 20:9-10

But Before That, We Know There Is A Unique Man Coming With Signs And Wonders Claiming To Be The Jewish Messiah

And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. Revelation 13:11-18

But As It Turns Out, He Ain't Messiah

And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. Revelation 19:19-20

Whoever The Antichrist May Be

He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. Revelation 3:5

He May Take Your Head But Beloved, He Can Never Bump You Off God's List

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:

The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. Numbers 6:24-27

John 2:18 says "ye have heard THAT anti Christ which is to come", which sounds to me like an individual, of course anyone against Christ is anti Christ but theres plenty of indication in scripture pointing towards an individual amongst the many.

Amen Fresno Joe they can off with our head but cant cast us into the lake of fire.

1 John 2:18. Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

John 6:66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

The antichrist is anyone who does not believe they can be that person of Christ that God sent Jesus to teach and give to us to be as one with Him, He in you and you in Him as one. There are many who do not believe they can walk as he walks or be and have as Jesus had, denying the very one God sent to teach us His way, he is the way … the way we are supposed to be. Examining self just might bring to light who the antichrist really is. Are we like Him or not? Many say they follow the way of Christ but are not like Him at all even denying him that they can be like Him.

We can look at this from the aspect of deception. The world is already deceived, the spirit of antichrist has been at work from the beginning. It is born again Christians he is after. If he can weaken us by getting us concerned about this life at this time, as he has been extremely successful, instead of deny ourselves and picking up our cross it's go into therapy and examine ourselves, or hope in our investments or Bill Hybills charisma or Rick Warrens peace plan, or destroy our faith in any manner, it doesn't matter to him. He takes no pleasure in pleasure. Evil is Evil. Pure.

Jesus prayed to the Father asking that He would keep us from the evil and then went on to pray "Sanctify them in thy truth, thy word is truth" Jn. 17:17

"Resist the devil and he will flee from you."

The spirit of antichrist will use anything of this world to get the Jews out of Jerusalem, even deceived Christians, because he is also after the Jew. I believe the Jews need to be in Jerusalem for Jesus to return. There is a King to sit on the thrown of David. The Jews are in Jerusalem, as of 1967. "And they will look on Him whom they have pierced." The spirit of iniquity will do anything to deceive the Jews to get a foothold in Jerusalem to wipe them out. We are living this. Deny it all you want but it is happening. Every time a nation tries to convince Israel to carve up Jerusalem something happens. 9/11, economic down turn, credit rating. Look at the nations messing with Jerusalem, we are a mess. "Jerusalem will become a burdensome stone to all nations round about and anyone that tries to lift that stone will be crushed."

This is now. Not a theology, not a perspective, but current event.

There have been many world leaders of evil. The bible is full of them, world history is full of them and to say there will not be a coming evil world leader is in itself a form of deception. This world is going down and we are the only ones that truly know it. We are also the only ones that know the way of escape. Jesus said "This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world and then the end will come." Matth. 24 John the Baptist preached "Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand." It's time we follow the instructions.

I agree that Zechariah is pertinent to our current situation. Jerusalem is definitely a cup of trembling and a burdensome stone to the (United) nations. This is the geopolitical climate necessary to facilitate the nations of the world to the day of battle. There are even some elements which seem to point to nuclear or bio/chem warfare.

Zechariah 14:12 "Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth"

Whatever the cause that event isnt going to be pretty. We can comfort ourselves with the knowledge that no matter when the anti Christ makes his move the elect wont be deceived and throughout all this we have God as our surety and His promise to us of eternal life with Him.

THE REFORMERS UNDERSTANDING OF THE ANTICHRIST

John Wycliffe “When the western church was divided for about 40 years between two rival popes, one in Rome and the other in Avigon, France, each pope called the other pope antichrist ‐ and John Wycliffe is reputed to have regarded them as both being right: “two halves of Antichrist, making up the perfect Man of Sin between them.” — Ibid

Thomas Cranmer (1489‐1556) (Anglican): “Whereof it followeth Rome to be the seat of antichrist, and the Pope to be very Antichrist himself. I could prove the same by many other scriptures, old writers, and strong reasons.” (Referring to prophecies in Revelation and Daniel.) — Works by Cranmer, Vol. 1, pp. 6‐7.

John Wesley (1703‐1791) (Methodist): Speaking of the Papacy, John Wesley wrote, “He is in an emphatical sense, the Man of Sin, as he increases all manner of sin above measure. And he is, too, properly styled the Son of Perdition, as he has caused the death of numberless multitudes, both of his opposers and followers… He it is…that exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped…claiming the highest power, and highest honour…claiming the prerogatives which belong to God alone.” — Antichrist and His Ten Kingdoms, by John Wesley, pg. 110.

Martin Luther (1483‐1546) (Lutheran): Based on prophetic studies, Martin Luther finally declared, “We here are of the conviction that the papacy is the seat of the true and real Antichrist.” (Aug. 18, 1520). — Taken from The Prophetic Faith of Our Fathers, by LeRoy Froom. Vol. 2., pg. 121.

“Luther … proved, by the revelations of Daniel and St. John, by the epistles of St. Paul, St. Peter, and St. Jude, that the reign of Antichrist, predicted and described in the Bible, was the Papacy … And all the people did say, Amen! A holy terror seized their souls. It was Antichrist whom they beheld seated on the pontifical throne. This new idea, which derived greater strength from the prophetic descriptions launched forth by Luther into the midst of his contemporaries, inflicted the most terrible blow on Rome.” — Taken from J. H. Merle D'aubigne’s History of the Reformation of the Sixteen Century, book VI, chapter XII, p. 215.

John Calvin (1509‐1564) (Presbyterian): “Some persons think us too severe and censorious when we call the Roman pontiff Antichrist. But those who are of this opinion do not consider that they bring the same charge of presumption against Paul himself, after whom we speak and whose language we adopt… I shall briefly show that (Paul’s words in II Thess. 2) are not capable of any other interpretation than that which applies them to the Papacy.” — Taken from Institutes of the Christian Religion, by John Calvin.

Roger Williams (1603‐1683) (First Baptist Pastor in America): Pastor Williams spoke of the Pope as “the pretended Vicar of Christ on earth, who sits as God over the Temple of God, exalting himself not only above all that is called God, but over the souls and consciences of all his vassals, yea over the Spirit of Christ, over the Holy Spirit, yea, and God himself…speaking against the God of heaven, thinking to change times and laws; but he is the son of perdition (II Thess. 2).” — The Prophetic Faith of Our Fathers, by Froom, Vol. 3, pg. 52.

John Knox (1505‐1572) (Scotch Presbyterian): John Knox sought to counteract “that tyranny which the Pope himself has for so many ages exercised over the church.” As with Luther, he finally concluded that the Papacy was “the very antichrist, and son of perdition, of whom Paul speaks.” — The Zurich Letters, by John Knox, pg. 199.

Cotton Mather (1663‐1728) (Congregational Theologian): “The oracles of God foretold the rising of an Antichrist in the Christian Church: and in the Pope of Rome, all the characteristics of that Antichrist are so marvelously answered that if any who read the Scriptures do not see it, there is a marvelous blindness upon them.” — Taken from The Fall of Babylon by Cotton Mather in Froom’s book, The Prophetic Faith of Our Fathers, Vol. 3, pg. 113.

The Westminster Confession of Faith (1647): “There is no other head of the church but the Lord Jesus Christ. Nor can the pope of Rome in any sense be head thereof; but is that Antichrist, that man of sin and son of perdition that exalteth himself in the church against Christ and all that is called God.” — This is Taken from Philip Schaff’s, The Creeds of Christendom, With a History and Critical Notes, III, p. 658, 659, ch. 25, sec. 6.

I have heard it said:

Obama is the AntiChrist

Islam is the AntiChrist

The Pope is the AntiChrist

---(Insert Name)----- Is the AntiChrist

But.....

What Does The Bible Tell Us About The AntiChrist?

How will we know who he is?

Are there signs we need watch for?

What are they?

Please reply with Scripture. This is more or less a means to better understand what God's word says of the greatest enemies mankind is to face in the nearing future, if not, is already presently facing.

The war for Christ is ever present and has not ended, in fact...it seems it is only begining.

But...will we be ready? Whose side will we be on in the end?

1Jo 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

1Jo 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

1Jo 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Anti-Christ isn't necessarily a single person, but a spirit. It COULD be both. I heard a convincing sermon that the Roman Emperor Nero --- who hated Christianity --- was the anti-Christ. Maybe there have been others. Maybe there will be others to come. One could certainly say the current president of Iran (whose name I never can seem to spell correctly) is an anti-Christ. Some Muslim leaders might qualify as well.

When compared to other world leaders, I don't see any US figure as more evil. Americans often forget how good they have it compared to other parts of the world, where many Christians are tortured and killed for their faith.

Does Revelation ever use the term "Anti-Christ"? Or is it just "the Beast"?

If one is looking for some major political figure who embraces evil, that is certainly possible as well. But I'm one to play the "pin the tail on the Anti-Christ" game, as it changes too frequently. I suppose those who follow truth will know that person's identity when the time arrives.

Amen Fresno Joe they can off with our head but cant cast us into the lake of fire.

1Jo 2:18 ¶ Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

That was a pretty bad misquote Xero. The individual is an individual spirit, not an individual human.

1Jo 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

The word spirit is in brackets because the translator had to put it there to make sense of the Greek sentence construction. The antichrist spirit was in the world and infecting the Gnostic teachers with its heresy.

Still a babe in my faith or understanding of the Bible, but if indeed the AntiChrist is a spirit....its attitude has been around for a VERY LONG time.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
