something i heard not too long ago, and realized how true it is....

ENTERTAINMENT IS SATANS SUBSTITUTE FOR GODS JOY.......

been thinking about how that really is true..... it appears in this world today, that we have to be constantly entertained, we have to always have something to do..

being we are in this sad frame of mind, we tend to give God the time that we have left over, or give God the time that is taken up by the political speaches, cause there is nothing else on the boobtube.....

people wonder why they do not see more of Gods workings, they pray and wonder why nothing happens, when really it is real simple, they are trying to keep themselves entertains..... magazines, books, movies, videos, games, sports, eating out, music, talking, phone, computer/internet, driving.... many forms of entertainment for a moment of fake joy......

when are we truely happy????

when do we have true joy????

how long does it last for us???

just something to think about.....

You speak the truth. We are so programed to be entertained it's scary.

During a storm we had about a month ago, the power went out. It was night and no tv. It was so odd how much we rely on electricity. However something awesome happened. The only thing we had was each other. We talked, prayed and sang some praise songs.

I did not even realize how much we needed to be power free sometimes. That night bonded us together even more than what we already are. And we're tight.

Wordly entertainment keeps us from so much God would love to do in our lives.

Good thread!! :D

In his love,

Brian

I've found that I'm only happy when I kept my mind on God. When I turn from him and allow my self to think about my self, family, friends or this world that is when I loss my joy and peace.

It's hard sometimes not to think about all of these things, but I'm learning slowly but surely that it's okay to care about others and whats going on in this world as long as God is the center point of my thoughts.

I stopped watching secular television for about three months and when I did tune back in I was completely surprised at what I saw. For example I've seen lethal weapon about fifty times and when I saw it after the three months I was surprised at how vilent it now seemed to me. Scene's that I'd once cheered had me drawing big breaths in surprise.

This is what we're leaving our children. It sad. When I was a child Mickey Mouse was the biggest thing for us kids. Now if it has a lot of blood and someone is killing someone else it's considered a must see and they wonder what's wrong with the youth of today.

What do they expect. They remove God from the schools and have allowed Him to be replaced with entertainment that harden's the heart of our children.

America needs to wake up and see the path in which their leading their children.

God Bless You

Jacqueline

How true this is. This trick of Satan's works so well because it is so subtle and deceptive. We go along and just keep doing more and more to give ourselves pleasure, pushing God further and further from our thoughts. It is a shock to finally look at our lives and see just how far we have drifted from God! We need to make our schedules around God, not try to fit Him into the schudule we made. This post was a good reminder for us to be more aware of how we spend our time.

Be Blessed,

Shar

my god...yall are crazy sometimes ;)

Entertainment is entertainment. Its there because the human mind will literaly go crazy if left with nothing to do.

Satan has nothing to do with it. Why does satan have to do with every problem in your life? Its your fault if you get so easily distracted from stuff that you dont take time to look to god.

If you want to be with god, do it! stop your books and tv for a while and do it, and stop whining. You complain for such a silly thing, that is actualy your problem. Its not entertainments fault your paying attention to it and not god. ITs yours, stop and look to god!

If you are only happy with god, then fine, be with god all the time. But dont complain when you put yourself out of god.

I have to agree. Entertainment IS entertainment. We can't blame our lack of worshipping God, prayer, reading God's Word, on Entertainment. WE are the ones who choose how we spend our time. I sometimes spend too much time online, or watching tv, etc. But LightLink is right, It is MY fault. I choose how I spend my time. We need to stop passing the buck, and accept some responsibility for our actions.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
