Why people imagine that the only only reason for the Pre-Tribulation Rapture is escapism is beyond me. The Bible makes it perfectly clear that unless the Holy Spirit is "taken out of the way" the Antichrist cannot be revealed, and unless the Antichrist takes power, the Tribulation period cannot begin. When the Holy Spirit is removed from this earth, so is the Church (indwelt by the Holy Spirit). The Bible says nothing about the Holy Spirit being taken away, it merely mentions the 'restrainer' being taken away. There are a number of speculations as to what the restrainer is. Some claim it is the Archangel Michael, some claim it is the Church and so on. If it is the Holy Spirit then there can be no new believers during the Tribulation, as it is the Holy Spirit that convicts a person into becoming a believer and safeguards a believer from being deceived. The Bible tells us that believers will be persecuted during the Tribulation, so that they may not buy and sell, and that some may even be beheaded. The Bible also tells us that those who have been beheaded will reign during the Millennium. How can non-believers reign during the Millenium when Christ is in charge and how can there be any new believers if the Holy Spirit disappears? Thus the removal of the Holy Spirit and the pre-Trib rapture of the Church is clearly shown to be irrational nonsense that contradicts scripture. The pre-Tribulation doctrine is false teaching. It comes from false prophets such as Schofield and Darby, and has no basis in the Bible. The fact that it has been unknown throughout most of Christian history and was only conceived by false teachers, should be a warning to those Christians who have fallen for it.
