Here is a good summary of Christ's commands from christadelphia.org:"

You have me in tears. This is the most amazing group of quotes. I read this and I am concerned for the body of Christ and our country. Are we OK with God?

This goes on my wall today. God Bless you for finding and sending this beautiful summary. I will pass it around.

Blessings,

Repent1,

Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. Thanks for your input. :noidea:

Chixsngr-

I feel like the elections spoke well of the christians. Had it turned out differently I would have been very afraid for America but today I feel very encouraged that the poles show that the MORAL majority won and I feel God has heard our prayers and will heal our land.

I see new Supreme Court action taking place in the future and this country returning to the ways of the founding fathers and our Father.

Love fulfills the law.

You don't have any problem with us going to war and killing 100,000 Iraqis who did nothing to us, based on bad intelligence? And 1100 of our boys.

After all those laws of Christ about forgiving our enemies and blessing those who curse us, you don't see an issue with this?

I am having a crisis in faith frankly. Because I don't know why God would heal our land when we drop bombs on people who did NOTHING to us. Actually, I am wondering what God's judgement is for not holding an unrepentant Christian President responsible for this act. How does that make us moral?

I thought you helped me find answers and instead I'm even more distressed with the near sided-ness of the church. I feel like a phony caring about Life and not being concerned with the death we cause in the world.

Chixngr,

Very well spoken. Why do christians applaud the killing of thousands of people when Christ tells us we are to love our enemies, and to even be angry with your brother is a sin. As far as God blessing America, God determines what countries exist, and what kings are in power. I personally am disgusted when people say we need to get back to the great christian nation we were back in the 1600's and 1700's. Wow, let's go back to calling blacks 1/12th of a person, taking away the right of women to vote, sewing scarlet "A's" on a female adulterer's garment (doesn't adultery require a man to enter a woman? Guess those holy males were exempt from the disgrace), killing indians and calling it "God's Manifest Destiny" (which was preached almost all of the churches of that day. Yeah, that sounds like a godly nation to me. You'll find that many christians don't actually practice what God preaches.

May God's power and peace be with you,

Ron

Thanks so much for answering. I have been considering leaving my church over this because they will not take a stand on our own sin but only on the sins of other people.

Christ said they will know us by our fruits and if that is true, we're failing as followers, because are fruits are war and death and crippling debt. I am so sad as I write this that I can't even continue.

I am not sure where to go with this but its good to know that not everyone follows blindly.

That is a quick response. There is a LOT more to it than that.

First, war was commanded by God many times in the OT against evil. There will be war between evil and good until the Lord returns.

I HATE suffering of the innocent too. I remember when the war first broke out in Afghanistan and the refugees were moved to camps and didn't have any food and were suffering so I was so grieved in my spirit for them. I prayed for God to please just send them some food. It was one of those rare times when He have me a definate vision. I saw something yellow falling from the sky and I heard Him say He would send the food. All I could think of was manna, and I thought that was the coolest! I thanked Him and praised Him for answering me like that.

A day or so later I was watching the news and saw the troops dropping yellow bags of food down for the refugees and the people running to get them. That was Bush's idea and I believe a direct answer to my prayer, hasn't been done since, has it?

Don't be so quick to judge. God had to allow for the Iraqi people to hear the gospel so that He can come back. This war has opened a door for the gospel of Christ that they would never have had.

The media doesn't speak of all the good that is being done. I heard a Muslim lady the other day thanking America for the schools and freedom for women and the help. They are appreciative and it is for good. We don't target civilians, but I know they do get in the way sometime. Remember that our days are already counted by the Lord and no one is taking them out before their time. God is in charge and one day we will see clearly, for now we see in part.

Blessings!

Wordsower,

We're not judging war, we're saying that as christians, we shouldn't be happy for the killing of anyone, no matter who they are. This is why christianity doesn't go along well with government. In the world which we live, countries will always be at war with one another. Christ told us that we aren't to even be angry with our brother, we are to turn the other cheek when struck the first time, we are to walk the extra mile when forced to carry someone's luggage (referring to the Roman soldiers), we should give our shirt and our jacket when asked. Killing is a sin, no matter what circumstance you are in. When we as christians say "let's go get those evil terrorists and give them their due", we are not speaking from the spirit of God, but of our carnal nature.

May God's power and peace be with you,

Ron

Brother Wordsower,

I really thank you for your reply.

First a clarification: Regarding your statement about the Iraqi woman who was happy with schools and freedom for women? This is what really bothers me about what the Church is being told. Because Iraqi women were among the best educated in the world. They were doctors and engineers and educators. Thier children, girls and boys, were as educated as our children.

The women in that country were more free than any other muslim country, especially our friends the Saudis. There were no burkas in Iraq for women. Saddam was a bad man, but don't be deceived that we "liberated" a secular society. Because now the fundamentalist Muslims are fighting to divide it up among the tribes. We certainly did the women no favors.

I simply cannot believe that God will have our nation cause a ill conceived war based on bad intelligence to save Muslims. I think that's US making God into OUR own image.

I can't imagine ANYONE in the rest of the world, especially Muslims, considering Christianity at this point. Frankly, I think with this war and the gay issue, we have taken our eyes off the prize and damaged out witness in the world. We've done NOTHING to bring people to Christ and everything to make them fear him.

Only love can do that and what we're practicing doesn't resemble love to the world. We were told not to be found asleep at the hour of his return and to do as he commanded until he returns.

Have we become so concerned about the hour, and the prophesy, that we have forgotten our work? Are we asleep at the hour? These questions are important.

Can't we, as a church, be honest about what we have here instead of trying to cloak it in OT scripture and claim that its OK to kill cultures. Christ did NOT think this was OK, no matter what we say to convince ourselves of it.

If we had just turned the other cheek how many more Americans do you suppose would be laying dead in our streets. You should read the story of Seargent York who had a struggle with the turning of the other cheek issue.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
