To me the world isn't going to find out about Jesus by going to church...the church is going to have to go out to the world and preach Jesus everyday.

Good point as well.

I heard that wordsower, but I still say that giving people off on Sundays, makes more sense in terms of spreading the gospel! And if we are going to do that then we'd better start resting on Sundays, so that the stores and restaurants will stay closed, affording the employees to go to church and hear!

If we look at the purpose then we can pinpoint the day that accomodates it! Just as Jesus understood the purpose of the Sabbath was LOVE! We can do the same by allowing people to be off work that day, like it used to be.

(yes, I know wordsower, same story, different day! :whistling: )

In His Love,

Suzanne

That's right! We sit up in church praising God while the world is going right on by outside on their way to hell.

SDAinFLA really should give serious consideration to altering his Call Letters to EGHWinFLA. She was essentially the founder of "Seventh-day Adventism" and its many Judaic and far-out tenets which it strives hard to impose upon the New Testament Christian Church of twice-born believers today. Ellen Gould Harmon White and William Miller surely made an excellent Pro-Judaic Duo as opposed to the liberty which is in Christ Jesus (Galatians 5:1)..."Stand fast therefore in the liberty with which Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Further, the very term employed by the adherents of EGHW - "Seventh-day Adventists" - is in truth a self-concocted designation used only since the middle of the 19th-century, long after the onset of New Testament Christianity. It is a term that came into being about the same time as Charles Taze Russell's "Jehovah's Witnesses" took their very distinctive term upon themselves, actually plagiarizing it from Isaiah 43:1 & 10a.

Among the many weird tenets espoused by EGHW and Uriah Smith were the "atonement-not-made-on-the-cross-but now-in-heaven" teaching (exposed in John 19:30; 1 John 4:10; etc); the tenet that Satan, not Christ is symbolized by the "Scapegoat" of Lev. 16, "The Great Controversy", Page 419, 422, etc., and that He in the end will bear the sins of the truly penitent (exposed in Hebrews 53:6,11; 1 Peter 2:24; etc.); the teaching that Christ, in the year 1844, "began the investigating & blotting out of sins" (G.C., Page 485,486) in spite of clear biblical assertions to the contrary, 1 John 2:12, Acts 10:43, Colossians 2:13, etc. And then EGHW's call for people to return to the Jewish Seventh-day Sabbath even tho Jehovah said it was a sign between Him AND ISRAEL in Exodus 19:3, Exodus 20:22, in fact Exodus 20 thru 31, Exodus 31:13, etc, etc.

And wouldn't you expect what the adherents of EGHW say about HER?!! Her "gift" was - DRUM ROLL PLEASE - identical to that manifested in the lives of Old Testament prophets, that her writings are "infallible", etc! INCREDULOUS! EGHW ON A PAR WITH THE APOSTLE PAUL!! The "Review & Herald" came up with THAT one. So, too, the Adentist Gen. Conference! All this - including her far-out predictions - is exposed in God's Holy Word in Matthew 24:24; 1 John 4:1; Isaiah 8:20, Deut. 18:22.` Sorry, but EGHW'S biblical reality-check bounced a long, long time ago! Indeed a Cavalcade of Hearsay and Judaic "Entanglement."

Arthur, I truly appreciate your replies and historical information on the Adventist Church. Though your responses tend to be sarcastic, I believe this might be the only method in which you were taught to defend scripture. Either way, it would not profit me to respond in like-manner.

I hear your accusations on EGW, and I completely understand where you are coming from. In my opinion, most SDA don't believe in her for the most part. So you have not given me information that is news to me. There are hundreds of websites explaining why EGW was a false profit...this is something that I am doing my own personal study on, with prayer and fasting.

However, I used all scrptures when disputing on the Sabbath...you are the one that quoted Ellen Gould White Harmon.

So while I understand what you're trying to do...I believe your methods of disputing the scriptures can be much more profitable if you weren't so busy trying to win the argument.

But again, thanks for the information, I will read it. But as for now, I am still a firm believer in the 10-commandments (not 9) and all the other "weird" doctrines of the SDA church.

Keep me in your prayers Arthur ;)

Suzanne,

Reiterating...............

The concept that you suggest was tried in days gone by. Sunday Blue Laws were instituted by some of the early Anglican settlers and our president Thomas Jefferson deemed them unconstitutional and discriminatory towards the Jews that were immigrating to our country at the time. So he introduced the 5 day work week to accomodate everyone.

That is love towards your brother, what we are called to do.

Think it through Suzanne.

Word,

Here are the answer to your questions...

But who is US in that context? Israel

And what were they to remember? The Sabbath day to keep it holy

why? LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Glad you said Israel, hoping you don't lump the church in with them, as they are blinded and we are not.

Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy ....... for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth ...and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. Ex. 20:11

Exodus 31:13-- Speak to the children of Israel saying, Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you through out your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you. You shall keep the Sabbath therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall be put to death....throughout your generation as a perpetual covenant.....It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever, therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath......

Remember I said that the 7th day of creation had no "and the evening and the sun were the 7th day"? It's not because He forgot to add it, it is because it was an intended end of work, for good..........God ended His work, rested, was in perfect communion with Adam and Eve, visited with them in the garden, all is good...............but the warning:

If you eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge, you'll die. Eve ate it and didn't die---right away. Right? Wrong. She immediately died spiritually and was out of spiritual communion with God. That knowledge tainted the perfect union of a Holy God and a now imperfect, unholy human. This disconnectedness with God continued throughout humanity until the Holy Spirit was able to dwell in man once again through the blood of the perfect sacrifice. The Holy Spirit did not indwell in people in the Old Testament.

Israel was to remember that perfect "rest" of Eden. That union with God before sin. Egypt was symbolic of the bondage of sin and the rescue of Christ to once again unify God to His created people.

They rejected the gift, as God knew they would so they continue in the perpetual sign of the Sabbath until the veil is lifted and they are able to see.

We, the church, the believers in Jesus accept the gift, the veil is torn in two, we receive the intended permanent rest of Jesus and are spiritually one with God, just like the beginning. That is what the new birth is all about, a spiritual rebirth, we are spiritually seated in the heavenlies, we are His! We are dead in Christ, raised to the newness of life!

Hallelujia! It's SO awesome!

:21: Glory!

Greetings, all.

Didn't the disciples meet at one time a to discuss this very matter?

I believe they concluded that the Gentiles should not be held to the Jewish observances such as sacrifices, feasts, circumcision, et al.

Pretty much makes this debate a moot point, I think. Keeping the Sabbath (which I believe was a Saturday, originally), is but another of the observances that is not forced upon the Gentiles.

Regardless, any day I can take off for the reverence of God is fine by me. :whistling:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
