Skunks love it too. The dry food doesn't smell very strong so you might try apraying just a little water on it to bring out the smell, but not enough to make it very moist. But I can comment on this. all he does is hide under my bed and when i am at work i am told he sits near the glass door How long have you had the cat? Cats do not handle change well. If the cat is hiding, it's likely because he hasn't adjusted yet. In other words, he hides because he is frightened, insecure. Perhaps attempting to play with him with one of those wands with a dangling string and tassel or something on the end will help him get used to you? But basically, it will take a few weeks to a couple months for the cat to truly adjust. So just be patient. As for the glass door, it could be one of two things: 1. If he is used to going outdoors, he's probably wanting to go back outdoors 2. Cats just enjoy looking outside. Try moving a small table or something (and stack things on top if need be) for the cat to be able to sit/lie by the window. I bought a cat ledge for my previous cat (you can get them at pet stores), and she loved it. Cats prefer heights anyway (in the wild, they will hang out in trees), so something like that might help encourage the cat to come out from the bed once in a while. A couple years ago someone dumped two kittens at the end of our driveway, so we became owned by a cat. One cat disappeared and the one left was a cat with a mind of her own, right from the beginning. Even today if we have someone come in she is terrified of them. She runs to the door and screams to be let outside. She is friendly to us - some of the time. Other times she just tolerates us. She eats dry food and some of the time will eat wet food. She sleeps with us and loves our body warmth in cold weather, but just flops on the cool floor in summer time. Cats are a bit strange, but I find it encouraging that your new family member is letting you pet him. I guess like people, cats have different temperaments and I hope you can outlast his moodiness. No doubt he misses his previous companion. Bless you for taking on this challenge. We never know the lessons God may have for us in these situations. Some are even extremely picky, if all its had in the past is wet food, well, then I can see why dry food doest seem to appeal. My brother had 2 cats, one would just as soon hide from you, the other would beg for attention. Theyre all different. If it likes hiding under the bed, then let it hide. My cat, likes to sleep in a coffee table for good portions of the day. He also has a specific part of the couch that hes on a lot. Cats find where theyre comfortable, and thats where they sleep-and since they tend to be nocturnal, they sleep most of the day. The cat, likes under your bed for some reason. Short of locking it out of your room, I doubt your going to change that. If your dead set on dry food, try getting some kitty treats (the dry ones) test different ones till you find one he likes, and then mix them in with the dry food. Might not work, but it may be worth a try.

Why do you not provide the same. If she gets hungry enough she will eat. Just make sure there is enough fresh water. Our cat was fussy about the food flavours - some she ate and some would stay with only a sniff. Ours loved looking out at the birds - provide a spot on a chair by a window where the cat can look out without seeing the dog. Treats like the ones that have a filling ( can't recall the name) will entice it to come onto your lap.
