http://www.prophecyinthenews.com/is-ours-the-last-generation/

It is true that Israel is the centerpiece of the prophecy, but its context must agree with all other New Testament prophecy, the book of Revelation in particular. There, the prophecy is global in scope.

I found this an interesting article

Do not believe so. At any rate, Ask anything says this:

The older definition of a "generation" (the average interval between the birth of an individual and the birth of its offspring) was 20 or 25 years.

However, genealogical studies have revealed that this is too simplistic and can result in large inaccuracies during statistical calculation.

According to Ancestry.com, a calculation based upon "three generations per century (33 years each) for male lines and 3.5 generations per century (29 years each) for female lines" leads to much more accurate estimates.

When someone asks is this the last generation, which one are they talking about? 1, 2, or 3 and what is the criteria for determining it?

I do believe that Israel is central to prophecy....did not read the entire article...just hard to pint down a generation I think when prob there are several reading

this and each one a different age....let me know if I am meandering ;)

As Sevenseas said above, the word "generation" can be a slippery fish. All I know is I believe--deep down inside--Jesus is coming for us sooner rather than later ... possibly in my lifetime, and in May I'll be sixry-one.

I could be wrong (and I frequently am), but I don't think so. Not about this.

I could be wrong >snip< but I don't think so.

Have you been watching Monk? This is from his theme song!

I frankly do not know what is considered a generation but like you I feel His return is not so far off.

ps: I am older than you!

In Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21, we read basically the same things. After Jesus teaches of the last days, He points to the lesson of the Fig Tree, where in the next to the last statement He said "Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place." in all three.

One of the definitions of a generation is "the whole multitude of men living at the same time". Since Jesus is speaking of Israel, this whittles it down from the whole multitude of men to those in Israel. The day the fig tree begins to bloom, which some say is 1947, while others say it was 1967, is the beginning of the generation. Despite the date, the generation would mean anyone who was alive at that time would be in the generation, where the generation would end when the very last of them died.

Let's say that a baby was born on that day in 1967 when Israel won back Jerusalem. Say they lived for 100 years. That would place the date around 2067. Yet, what if it began in 1947 and the last person of that generation liven only until 2014, then that is when the generation would be over. We cannot know for sure when this will end, but yes, we are in the last generation, unless this is not the fig tree Jesus spoke of. I believe we are.

I honestly don't think we can know for sure. And people have been thinking they're the last generation for a long long time.

However, I hope we are.

I feel certain we're in the last days. But where in the last days I don't know.

Come Lord Jesus come.
