The Promise of Heaven !

Hi all, I apologize if this is a dumb question, but i have always wondered what happens to young children if they die. Do they make it into heaven ? Also some people believe that a catholic won't make it to heaven unless they are saved and I believe that too . Its scriptural.. Unfortanetly the catholic church does'nt make it clear enough to people that you must be born again and accept Jesus as your personal savior. I however made a catholic retreat 24 years ago and met Jesus but soon after that left the catholic church. What does happen to the children though ? If there's words in the bible that explain this then I missed them. Your comments ??

Hi Michael:

I believe children under the age of accountability will be in Heaven. In Mark 10:14 Jesus says:

4But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. 15Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. 16And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

Another verse which seems to agree with this one can be found in Matthew 18:4 which reads:

Verily I say unto you, Except ye turn, and become as little children, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven. 4Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me: 6But whoso shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it is profitable for him that a great millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be sunk in the depth of the sea.

I was raised a Catholic too, one of the false doctrines I was taught as a child was about Limbo (the place supposedly reserved for children and babies who died before being baptized). This of course is a false doctrine, and I believe was created by the Roman church to uphold their policy of infant baptisim. I hope these scriptures help. God bless, love in Christ ellie

Greetings Thomas,

You may want to do this for yourself, but in my study of the Lamb's Book of Life, I recognized that it was written BEFORE the foundation of the earth with every name of every soul in it except for those seeds sown by Satan. Then God threw away the pencil and kept the eraser. For those who reject Christ, their name shall be erased from the Book. For those who can neither know or acknowledge Christ (the mentally infirm and children) they do not fall under the "law of sin and death", for it is by one's own sin that they shall die. Therefore they REMAIN in the Lamb's Book of Life.

You may want to consider the Breastplate of the High Priest in the OT. On it were 12 precious stones representing ALL of Israel. They wore this when they went into the Holy of Holies to "intercede" on behalf of Israel once a year for their sins. This breastplate represents Jesus "heart", and He has been interceding for all of mankind from the beginning. We may have been "born in sin" with a "propensity" to sin, but that does not mean that we have the capability "to sin" at a very young age or if we are mentally infirm. Until Adam and Eve ate from the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil, there was NO SIN. So it is with children and the mentally infirm. They do not know the difference.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

Dad Ernie, what a wonderful analogy about the Breastplate, I have not heard that before but it makes beautiful and perfect sense, thanks so much for sharing that.

Dad Ernie and Ellie, Thanks for some clarification on this ! I as we all do worry about every soul, that they know Jesus. So if i understand this right its when a child knows right from wrong that they must accept Jesus to be forgiven of sin to have the promise of Heaven ? Ellie I remeber the (limbo phenomenem) that was taught in catecism. I am sure glad we both know the truth now from the false doctrine that the catholic church taught us.

Amen Michael, the age of accountabilty was the age of twelve in the Hebrew children, but it is safe to say that it would be when a child understands right from wrong.

I once was taught from Cornithians that when at least one of the parents believed, the child was saved until such time he/she was able to understand and believe on their own. But as far as children of unbelievers, that I'm not sure. :whistling:

Greetings,

I agree with Ellie. Children develop at different ages and it is up to the parents to guide them very early on and set the example for them so that when the time comes for them to accept the Lordship of Jesus Christ, they will be ready to accept Him. We are to raise up a child in the way he should go and in the latter days he shall remember what he was taught. The child has to come to this decision on his/her own without having a "forced confession" put on him/her. I believe AT THAT TIME they are sealed with the everlasting seal of the Holy Spirit and are eternally secure in the Lord. No I am not OSAS, that is why a child must come to this himself/herself. God has the perfect timing for this.

But if the child or mentally infirm has not come to this recognition, they remain in the Lord's heart.

I believe the history of Israel is a good place to look for further understanding. If a child comes to the place of total rebellion, he was to be stoned and his name forgotten among the peoples.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

Hello Tomas.

I put this down a few years ago but it is still relevant to the discussion.

Deuteronomy 1:39

"Moreover your little ones and your children, who you say will be victims, who today have no knowledge of good and evil, they shall go in there; to them I will give it, and they shall possess it.

This is when the tribes of Israel where in the desert and refused to go into the Promised Land because of fear of it's inhabitants. God decided to punish the people by forcing them to wonder in the desert for 40 years so that all of the generation that had refused to enter the Promised Land would die and never enter it. But as he says above about the little ones

"WHO TODAY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL"

This is the crucial statement from God about the little ones (BABIES) they are innocent. Think of adam and eve before they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. where they not perfect. and here we hear God Himself says about the little ones "WHO TODAY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL".

The Messiah Jesus made an interesting statement concerning little ones too.

Matthew 18:10

"Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

Paul wrote

Romans 7

9I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died. 10And the commandment, which was to bring life, I found to bring death. 11For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me.

Paul is clearly saying that he once was alive without the law this was when he was a little one. Once Paul came to the understanding of Good and Evil his carnal nature came to the fore.

2 Samuel 12

21Then his servants said to him, "What is this that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive, but when the child died, you arose and ate food." 22And he said, "While the child was alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, "Who can tell whether the LORD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?' 23But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me."

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
