Hello ~ Before I start, I have read the entire thread.

I just wanted to quote my favorite person...JESUS

Matthew5:

If you are ordered to court and your shirt is taken form you, give you coat too. If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two miles. Give to those who ask, and don't turn away from those who want to borrow.

Thought that maybe that would help.

Rightly divide the word of God. We are called, "Children of God"...we're still learning.

My favorite part of church service is the part where they ask for tithes. God loves a cheerful giver and we give, not out of duty but love.

But LOVE is interesting.

..THINK HARD, friend. Are you a parent?

Do you GIVE your children everything they ask for? Why not? Are you a bad parent?

Does God give you EVERYTHING you ask for?

God looks at the need and motive of the heart when he evaluates our requests.

Consider God's motives for giving to us:

James 4: 2b-3 And yet the reason you don't have what you want is that you don't ask God for it. 3 And even when you do ask, you don't get it because your whole motive is wrong – you want only what will give you pleasure. 4 You adulterers! Don't you realize that friendship with this world makes you an enemy of God?

We need WISDOM!!! We need the Holy Spirit to GUIDE us into all wisdom and not take a couple of verses and just form a religion around it.

I know. I used to do it. GUILTY as charged! LOL! ;) I love to give but God had to teach me to follow HIS leading ....

Sometimes giving everything we'd love to give from our hearts is NOT God's will and Jesus is concerned with the will of the Father.

He is our example. If you see a genuine need, by all means...meet the need.

This situation described (*if you read the whole thread).....had NOTHING to do with a poor soul who was starving and in need.

It had to do with a person needing guidance and direction more than money and our patient endurance with their "mooching".

We WALK by the Spirit and are led by the Spirit, balancing His Word and the Spirit to guide us into righteousness.

Catsmeow ~

I apologize, I havn't been a dedicated christian for not much longer than a year. I did not know if my post would be helpful or not. I looked in my bible and found that. It was my impression that what ever Jesus said was important enough to at least mention if it could have had any relevancy. I did not know how one would interpret the scripture that I quoted...everybody is different. I have not formed a religion around it. I looked it up...I have not studied it. The bible is pretty big and while I can read the entire thing in a year it will take a lot longer for me to study every page. I am a mother and I do not give everything to my child. I give him everything that I possibly can that is good for him. It is MY OPINION (not from the word...I would rather go to the word...it isn't fallable) that you should give endlessly to necessity not desire. If someone is hungry, feed them. If someone wants you to buy them a car that is up to you. If they need a ride to somewhere important and you have the ability, drive them or buy a bus pass. You should do all that you can to make sure that someones necessities are taken care of not that they are pleased and happy. I cannot imagine someone sitting on the side of the road asking Jesus for food and Jesus replying no, I helped you all last week!..I can however see him as the type that would confront the issue head on. WITH LOVE. I leave no needs unmet in my child's life. Wants are another issue. If I gave the 'wrong' scripture in the 'wrong' context I am very sorry.

I know that the person wasn't starving and in need but she still would have been hungry without lunch...yes, her own fault. This woman may just see the love of Christ in Dear Judy and come to know Christ herself. Maybe not...but that isn't what this thread is about... Since she isn't thankful should we stop loving her... If GOD was like that we would all be in trouble. Before many people are saved they are very unthankful...sure glad GOD doesn't use that to chose those he loves. It is grace...an unmerited favor. GOD shows grace. We want to be like HIM right? So shouldn't we be full of grace. I am still learning. I spend a lot of time in the word and more in prayer but I don't understand everything. I pray for wisdom daily. I again apologize. Maybe I don't belong on this forum. -HIS

But LOVE is interesting.

It sure is! It will make me do things that make no sense at all!

..THINK HARD, friend. Are you a parent?

Six kids...one son, 21, struggling to grow up, another 18 year old son getting married next weekend, a teenage girl who just got her license to drive (stay out of TEXAS!) a junior high school basketball-playing-fool of a son, a 7 year old temperamental female artist, and the cutest little blond haired blue-eyed 3 year old you ever laid eyes on who had the poor luck of being my "junior".

Do you GIVE your children everything they ask for? Why not? Are you a bad parent?

I look for reasons and ways to say "yes" as much as possible. They get "no" quite often.

Does God give you EVERYTHING you ask for?

When I ask according to His will? YES!!!

WAY BEYOND ALL I CAN ASK FOR OR IMAGINE!!!!

Doesn't everyone? ;)

I've never suggested that we allow this person to continue abusing a friendship...but the unrepentant bum is not "my" child to rear.

At some point I stop giving and walk away....but still need to forgive this person whether they ever change or not.

Example: My friend plays in a satanic rock band. I can't simply hang out in his world long enough to be sure he gets saved. However, I can attempt to speak into his life from a distance....and I'm still his friend.

Not every problem is ours to "fix". My advice to Dear Judy is to leave this person alone. I think that is our only disagreement Cats.

we are not to be a door mat and this friend of yours is very rude for me i would say it would be nice to say thank you once in a while.

she has no excuse to be so rude although she may have some hurt from the past but this is no excuse for this type of attitude ,to me seems as though she is taking you for a ride you only choose to do nothing because you are afraid of confronting her.

remember the story of the rich man who came to jesus thinking he was perfect until jesus told him to go sell all your belongings and give them to the poor, jesus wasnt afriad to confront people when it was needed and nor should we.

Roman 12:10 Loving one another with the charity of brotherhood: with honour preventing one another. 11 In carefulness not slothful.

Slothful = laziness

2 Thessalonians 3:10

10 For also, when we were with you, this we declared to you: that, if any man will not work, neither let him eat.

Judy, I don't know why people don't take the ENTIRE Word of God (not meaning you) and consider context as well.

Yes, if you see a hungry man on the street, feed him; if you see a woman and child shivering in the cold, give them your coat. Do what is righteous in the sight of God.

Laziness and slothfulness is an abomination to God and He never condones "feeding" the SIN of slothfulness.

When people begin to take advantage of other people (because they can), you aren't helping them.

Sorry. No one loves to give more than I. I'm a giver but God has shown me to use WISDOM and discernment in matters.

Bless you, Judy....

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
