Ward, encouraging Santa letters is not a good idea IMO. Christmas isn't about the guy in the red suit. Encouraging children to believe in Santa is an out and out deception. Some regard it as harmless, but I for one prefer to teach my children the truth about Christmas.

I'm not chewing you out, just not encouraging a promotion of Santa in Christ-mas.

Oh, puhleeeez!!!!! Next you'll be saying we shouldn't letting kids watch Popeye-that thing of eating spinach is a myth you know!

Honestly, this wasn't in controversial issues, wasn't opened up to encourage discussion regarding believing in Santa Claus and if you disagree with the OP's thoughts, DON'T POST!!!!

I grew up hearing about Santa and I turned out alright! I'm actually going to wait up and see if he comes down my chimney! :noidea:

I grew up not being lied to about Santa and I grew up fine too.

Let me relate something that happened with my son to you.

When he was in kindtergarten some of the other children were talking about Santa Claus.  My son said there was no Santa,  that Christmas was about the birth of Christ.  The other kids argued with him and said they knew there was a Santa because their parents had told them so.

My son being young and lacking in tact because he was 5 told them that their parents had lied to them, because there is no Santa..Jesus Christ is the reason for Christmas.

He told me that those children responded by saying that their parents would never lie to them.

I have often felt bad for those children because I know that the day came that they realized that their parents had indeed lied to them.  I wonder how they felt if they remembered the conversation they had with my son in which they said their parents would never lie to them.

I thank the Lord I grew up in a household where Christ was taught, and that my son was sure enough of who Christ was at the age of 5 to proclaim Jesus Christ though he was alone among many children who were opposing him and calling him a liar.  He stood up for the truth like a child of God should.

AAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is 100% the way that my husband I both feel about this. I applaud the parents and family of those who are willing to stand against this and other ridiculous accessorising of Christ-mas.

Ronald, I was lovingly (I hope) encouraging Ward to see the TRUE meaning of Christmas. If you don't agree that JESUS is the reason for the season :noidea: Popeye has nothing to do with it and as Katy said, there is harm in finding out that parents lie about something that is made such a fuss of during the lead up to Christ-mas. Quite incidentally, I was talking to a woman today, who was proclaiming herself a pagan...even she was quote, 'Devasated' to find out SC wasn't real.

How the Santa Myth is designed to be a Counterfeit Christ

Santa has White Hair

Revelation 1:14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

Santa wears Red Apparel

Isaiah 63

1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.

2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?

Santa is from the North

Psalms 48

2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

Santa Comes like a theif in the night.

2 Pet 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Santa Knows all..if you've been bad or good.

Hebrews 4

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Santa is the Giver of Gifts

Ephesians 4

8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

Children approach Santas' throne asking for gifts.

Hebrews 4

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Santa Tells children to come to him

Mark 10

14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

Santa says HO HO HO

Zechariah 2

6 Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD.

I pray that we are all teaching our children who to believe in.. so that they are depending on Our Savior this holiday season instead of a counterfeit.

2 Tim 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

I think you are grasping at straws, but I will respect your decision for your family, we all see things diffrently and as you see, on my site its not front page, its for the other 75%, remember this helps draw the unsaved to my site as well and while they are their to get a free santa letter they begin to look around and ... presto I have just witnessed to the unsaved. Have a wonderful holiday season to all :noidea:

A poem by Robert W. Service:

The Sceptic

My Father Christmas passed away

When I was barely seven.

At twenty-one, alack-a-day,

I lost my hope of heaven.

Yet not in either lies the curse:

The hell of it's because

I don't know which loss hurt the worse --

My God or Santa Claus

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
