from Reagan Reports:

Malaysian Jet Disappears But Passenger Smart Phones Keep Ringing

"Malaysian police investigating the disappearance of a Malaysian Airlines jet are considering hijacking, sabotage, and mechanical failure as potential causes of the disaster, reports the Wall Street Journal. But even though the plane has disappeared, the Daily Mail reports relatives of missing passengers have still been able to call the cellphones of missing passengers ..."

While you would expect that when you hear a ring tone the phone is on and in working order that may not actually be the case - according to one expert.

"That does not mean the phone you are calling is ringing yet," wireless analyst Jeff Kagan told NBC News.

"The network is searching for the phone. First based on where it last was, then it expands. Then if the network can't find the phone, the call terminates."

Apparently even if the phone in question is in airplane mode - or is off or terminally broken - it may still ring on the caller's end, despite there technically being no chance of it being connected.

And speaking of expanding the search, here's an "update" from The Blaze:

"The Malaysian military has radar data showing the missing Boeing 777 jetliner changed course and made it to the Malacca Strait, hundreds of kilometers (miles) from the last position recorded by civilian authorities, according to a senior military official.

"The development injects more mystery into the investigation of the disappearance of Saturday’s flight, and raises questions about why the aircraft was not transmitting signals detectable by civilian radar.

"Reuters put it more bluntly:

That would appear to rule out sudden catastrophic mechanical failure, as it would mean the plane flew around 500 km (350 miles) at least after its last contact with air traffic control, although its transponder and other tracking systems were off ..."

that is true. However, if they managed to get their voicemail that maybe more conclusive, but even then more and more phones have their voicemails stored online and not on the phone itself.

Could this be why flight MH370's disappearance is so confusing? (emphasis mine)

Malaysian Airlines flight MH370: authorities accused of 'chaotic' response

"Twelve countries, 42 ships and 39 aircraft are scouring 27,000 square nautical miles in search for missing flight MH370 as the last communication from the cockpit was revealed.

"As anger and frustration mounted at the confusion over where the jet had last been sighted, Malaysian officials insisted they had been consistent in the information they have released.

"'It is only confusion if you want it to be seen to be confusion,' said Hishammuddin Hussein, the Malaysian Defence and Transport minister, and cousin of the prime minister Najib Razak.

"However, the officials went on to change the time of the last sighting of the jet once again ..."

No wonder so much illegal trafficking goes thru Malay airports. "Is this any way to run an airlines?" You bet it isn't!

Oil Rig Worker Says He Saw Flight 370 Crash in Flames

"A New Zealand man working on an oil rig in the South China Sea claims he witnessed missing Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 burst into flames before disappearing.

"Mike McKay, who was working on the Songa Mercur drilling platform off the Vietnamese coast, described the incident, which he said took place 50-70 km from his location, in an email to his supervisors ...

"ABC's Bob Woodruff confirmed with Mckay's employers that the email is real. If what McKay witnessed was actually Flight 370, it would disprove reports that the flight changed course and disappeared over the Strait of Malacca ..."

Well,if it did burst into flames their has to be parts of it that came to the ground somewhere you would think.Would it have disintegrated totally?

Also, if it did burst into flames then it didn't simply crash. It either blew up or caught fire which suggests to me a likely act of terrorism.

Or maybe all this Global warming and climate change moved the Bermuda triangle into the South China Sea.
