Where Eagles Fly

I live in Southern Calif. We hardly ever get rain but when we get it...we get it! Today is one of those days, and from what I hear it's going to continue for the next few days. The skys are cloudy and gray. Nowhere do I see a patch of blue or a hint of sun. However I do know that beyond the clouds and gray skies, lies the sun.

I have done a lot of studying about the American Eagle. It is such an awesome bird and there is a reason why God tells us to "Mount up with wings as eagles". Here are a few facts about eagles.

Did you know that an eagle can fly higher then any other bird? It can go as high as ten thousand feet. Also it has the ability to pitch it's wings at different angles allowing it to catch the air currents so it can soar easier. Wind that would batter other birds to the ground and most likely kill them only enhances the eagles ability to fly. When it's stormy the eagle will rocket through the storm until it reaches safety. In other words it flys through the storm and breaks through the clouds to where the sun is shining and there is no wind. There it will circle quietly until the storm passes. It also has a second set of eye lids that allows it to look directly into the sun. It will head for the sun because it knows that where the sun is there is no strom. I now know why God calls us eagles. I love the similarity. I don't think there is one of us that has not been in a storm. The question is how did we weather it? Did we soar above it, looking directly to the son or did we allow it to beat us to the ground? I will be the first to admit I have been beaten a few times. It seem to hard sometimes and it's just easier to be tossed around then to fight it. I try to keep in mind that the storm is only temporary and afterwards there will be sun. The winds will quiet and the waters will become still once again. We just have to hold on, and like the eagle, go beyond the koas to where God awaits to hand us our victory.

Rusty, wonderful, just wonderful. I know the Lord is working in you to help others realize things such as this. You know, I think Ben Franklin was a wonderful founding father, but I was sure glad that the turkey was not chosen as one of the symbols for our country. The eagle is a symbol of strength and yes, that's exactly why it was given as an example for us to relate to. Thanks for the food for thought, Rusty.
