I can understand what compels people of religion. What compels you?

A sense of what I consider is correct in civil behaviour compels me to express my opinions. Whether they are accepted or not is not within my control. Do you think that atheists do not feel enough to have opinions or have the will to express them? Do you think only believers in god have that?

I do not see myself as a target when expressing my opinions. This is a message board, which entertains several opinions (from what I have gathered). I do not see the authors of those opinions as targets. Perhaps you mean that I am one of the few atheists who post here, that I am "targeted?" If so, please share with me what you see me being targeted for? Any special punishment?

I would go up to the one mourning and wrap my arms around them. Cry with them and then promise them that things will get better if they trust God and accept the mercy of his son Jesus Christ. I would tell them that I know they are hurting and that I can feel their pain. But God will send them comfort if they only trust and believe in Him.

Bingo!! You can't. You cannot give them any hope for the future.

What makes you think they don't have a hope for the future? They have ancestors who have survived disasters and have hope for their future under their own belief system. What makes you think they would welcome your views?

Many people have. We cannot control the response, but we are commanded by God to share the good news with everyone. We are commanded to be his missionaries, and/or to support his missionaries all over the world.

We are commanded to be a light to the nations. We have hope for the future, we have good news for the suffering and the broken hearted. It would be immoral to hold it back to ourselves.

When people are suffering and wondering why these things happened, and what they will do, we will be there with the hope of the gospel. Some will reject, but some will accept.

Some will be offended at the light. They prefer the darkness.. We do not let a person's response determine our message, or where we will take it.

I really don't understand this , "I am just expressing my opinion" stuff.

You don't believe in "a higher power", you don't believe in Jesus, you don't believe in the spirit world . . .

So, instead of going to a board where you can interract with people with your same interests (whatever interests you might have), you come to a board full of people with opposing views as you. Why this need to "express your opinion" to people with whom you disagree with and with whom disagree with you?
