This holy city coming down is the bride = saints redeemed from the earth

Joseph being the 12th star, the woman in Revelation 12 is prophetically referring to Israel.

Some here have discussed how could the evil one and his followers not figure out that the woman was hiding in Petra?

Has anyone ever seen how under hypnosis a subject can be made to forget a number? They say they cannot make you do anything against your will under hypnosis, but to me at least this proves the opposite. The artist hypnotizes the subject and tells them not to remember the number four. Wakes them up and asks how many fingers are on each hand?

The subject shrugs with the obvious answer "Five." Count your fingers the artist says. Okay, one, two, three, five six... six? Again, one, two, three, five, six... Well I'll be hornswoggled. I always thought it was five.

Would this ability be beyond Almighty God to provide for his remnant a sanctuary in Petra in the wilderness?

I think the Romans were more interested in making a statement to the Jews by destroying their Temple and Jerusalem, than pursuing those who escaped, such as the christians, to Petra.

Jerusalem and the Temple were their goals.

God can do whatever He wants! I have always been suspicious though, of the Petra Theory. It just struck me odd, that people would have to flee to a tourist trap, located on a just off a highway to be hidden. Just as God could pull a hypnosis like event to confound people, He could just as easily hide them in plain sight, but that is not what the book says will happen is it! Perhaps the early ones can get a room at one of the 11 local hotels!

LOL John, I didn't mean to imply that they would have to get in line like at Disneyland, only that Petra is anything but a secret or hidden location. God could certainly use it, but He hardly needs it. Having a bunch of Jews corralled in a canyon, is more of a trap than a protection. Without God's protection, one nuke would get everybody there. I just wonder, if the anti-Christ will be really limited to the means of the militaries of 2000 years ago, just a ponderment!

God could hide the fleeing Israelis in Petra even if Petra isn't a secret location.   God has no little experience in doing the impossible.
