Yoh! The  China WaL;-Mart

Well this is a pleasant surprise.

You all must know what I think of Wal - Mart.

I shop there to!

Because the alternatives I see as no better.

The Market Is Cornered!    They have left us no escape <<but to become complicit>>

I do not like it but it seems to be a fact.

Kind of like Microsoft.

Here in Australia, we have the Federal Minimum Wage. It allows for people to earn what they can whilst claiming a part pension, or Govt payment. I'm sure exactly what the minimum wage is, but I can tell you...Australia seems to have far better measures to protect our workers than many other countries. Here, a full time worker gets 4 weeks annual leave after 1 year of employment, fully paid public holidays and sick leave that is also about 4 weeks annually.

It boggles my brain that companies are allowed to treat their employees in such manner as in China and the US.

compared with 15.31 for unionized grocery workers.

15.00$ to bag groceries? ... No wonder the prices are so high and I blame unions for alot of the costs we have. There was a time when unions were needed not anymore. Any increase gets passed onto consumers and in the end its a zero sum game.

In the end we have done it to ourselves. Were a greedy more power to me country. Each buisness is in it to make money be it Ford, Target, Wal-Mart, or Mcdonalds. This is the system of buisness we have in this country.

People complain about about the cost of living and the fact that other countries provide time off and total wellfare.. Things arent so rosy as their unemployment rates are much higher than ours.

The only way things will change is people completely change their lifestyle and that isnt America. How many people here are willing to live in smaller houses, smaller cheaper cars, less toys ( boats, TV, games, etc ) .. That just isnt going to happen.

On the whole I certianly do not believe America treats its employees badly. Sure there are some that do, but there are plenty if them that treat them well. I am fortunate to work for one that does.

And it's reasons like you state here, that companies don't locate in Australia or in Europe for that matter, but are setting up in India and China.

Let's face it, who is going to do business in a country, where it cost them double over doing business somewhere's else, if they get the same or even better quality?

Your competition will defeat you, if you chose to follow ideology over sound business decisions.

The bottom line is what says you're in business or you're not.

I think we have to look at it as a very broad issue.

Or all the jobs will go to places were fewer and fewer people are offered a decent living.

My sister calls wal-mart the "Beast". Ran her outta business.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

THIS is what really bothers me! My pet-peeve is when big corporations come in and destroy the mom and pop businesses. They do it on purpose. Big companies are obsessed with acquiring other companies to eliminate competition and give themselves a corner on the market. It's hideously wrong. Soon there will only be a small handful of corporations that own absolutely everything.

Your sister has my sympathies.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The "mom and pop" business put themselves out of business. They fail to differenciate themselves from the "big nasty multi national corporaton" and try to compete head to head. "Mom and Pops" have poor business plans or poorly executed business plans, or both. Wal-Mart will win every time. Let me repeat--Wal-mart will win every time if you try to compete head to head. Wal-mart is better at merchandising, supply base management, logistics, distribution, finance, almost everything. And if Wal-mart is not good at something they have the resources (money) to get better at it or to buy somebody that is good at it.

The mom and pop shop must differenciate themselves from Wal-mart to survive. I bet Wal-mart has never put a mom and pop owned Antique store out of business. Or I bet Wal-mart has never but mom and pop fine clothing store out of business. Why, because Wal-mart doesn't compete in those markets. These business are different than Wal-mart.

That's the way I see it to.

Not many people realize that a Corporation has all the legal rights of a human citizen.

Trouble is they have the rights, but they do not have the consciousness to deserve those rights.

Any corporation that is run by true and admirable and fully conscious people, has in itself the consciousness of a reptile whose only fully conscious function is to Feed, to make Profit. It has no social consciousness whatever. In fact a social consciousness is deemed a liability towards its survival.

And so it has the full protection of the law and is fully capable of demanding its rights

And its rights are to demand consumers who thus become the consumed.

Exactly true. Wal-Mart will never compete in the "niche" business markets. Because there's not enough money in it for the effort.

I work for a "mom and pop" owned video rental/tanning salon. We just had a huge chain video rental move in and take over grandvideo about 8 miles from us. Yeah we were worried  Grandvideo used to be almost on the same ground as we were....same prices and so forth. So we assumed that this huge chain moving in was going to stomp us bad. Its called Moviegallery, I guess they are from California. Now they have the ability to buy movies en-mass...I mean they buy about 100 copies of the same title...where the most of one title we buy is 8. But this HAS come back and bit them so to speak...because they buy more...they charge more...granted you get their new realeases for 5 days.

So the boss and I sat down and tried to come up with aplan. We decided that we were going to offer our movies at the same price...but let customers keep them 3 days..heres the comparison..there was more of course but this is the important stuff.

New realeases at the store I work at: 2.65 for 3 days

Moviegallery: 5.75 for 5 days

Video games at the store I work at: 2.15 for three days

Moviegallery: 7.50 for 5 days

We have gotten about 28% more business (new customer sign ups) then we have since the old grandvideo used to be there...this is not including all of the customer that were already in our computer coming back to us. Moviegallery made a big mistake thinking that they could bring California prices to this area...It just doesn't work.

My point...a mom and pop store can make it...you don't have to outdo...cuz you can't. But you can compete enough to stay in business. My point is you may not be able to offer the "bulk" but you can offer the same service and make it. At least thats what we have learned where I work.

Forgot to add....because of the extra income this store is making...we have also decided to cut back on the seperate titles we buy...and stick to getting more copies of the "popular movies" So instead of getting copies of say every one of the 12 new releases due out that week we will only buy the popular ones..thus letting us raise our # of copies we get of each. I think this is going to work fine for us. Where as Moviegallery buys ALL available new releases in bulk...even if they are a flop...thus they sit on the shelves not making an income for the store.

Not trying to derail here.

Love and Blessings,

Angel

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
