I hear you ricky.   Christianity Today did a poll a few years back and found that only about 1/3 of men in American congregation actively participate in worship.  One reason they discovered is what you mention about how feminine the songs are.   They have romantic overtones that men have a problem singing to another male figure.

I have always had a problem with singing the same chorus of a few words for several minutes.  It is more like hypnosis than actual worship.    You are right about the shallowness of some of the modern worship.

Compare:

"When I survey the wondrous cross on which the prince of glory died; my greatest gain I count but loss and poor contempt on all my pride.  See from his head, his hands his feet, sorrow and love flow mingled down. Did e'er such love and sorrow meet, or thorns produce so rich a crown?"

I could sing of your love forever;

Hi shiloh357,

This feminine feel to the songs, comes I believe from the wrong teaching of the Body of Christ being female (bride/wife) whereas God`s word clearly says that that is a symbol of His relationship with Israel.

Protestants have wrongly taken on the bride,

Catholics, Mary,

The world, idolising females,

Ancient cultures all had female `worship.`

He calls us the Bride.

Hi ayin jade,

Thank you for the link. However there is no scripture that says the Body of Christ is a female, a bride, the wife.

The Old Testament & Gospels clearly show that it is Israel who is the Bride/wife .

Rev. describes the city, the New Jerusalem, also as a bride.

Eph. 5: 25-27 the word is `it,` not she, meaning it, the body. That is not a doctrine Paul is teaching but an exhortation for husbands to love their wives as Christ does His Body. Male head (Christ) & male body (us) the one new man.

2 Cor. 11: 1 - 4 is Paul specifically saying to his disciples that he wants to present them pure to the Lord. Now Paul will not present us to the Lord. It is the Lord Himself who will present us.

This is a false teaching that has not been understood, I believe. I was never taught that we are a bride. I know that when I learnt to fly aircraft that if you were off one degree in direction, then by 60 miles you would be off 60 degrees. (A very important rule) Thus it is with the `bride,` false teaching (as I learnt) then today`s focus, direction, is really quite noticeably off course with the romantic feelings portrayed in some songs.

I think I will make that a separate thread too. In doctrinal forum.

the bible does indeed teach that we are the bride of Christ. however, it's an analogy. nobody here thinks that God sees us all as female or that females should be idolized. and i've never in my life heard anybody teach that we are literally the bride, as in female. if they had, THAT would have been wrong teaching. but that's simply not the case.

perhaps you've been under some improper teaching. but that's not the norm.

Various reasons, my wife I think it's just time to move on

run as fast as you can from Jesus Culture.   It is a cultic movement and they are poisonous.

I love Jesus Culture! They are anointed, and not cultic in the least.

Fez, Kim Walker is the one who claims to have special communications with Jesus.   She is not someone we should be listening to.

she claims to have visited heaven and talked with God the Father, and Jesus and claims that God the father ripped out piece of his chest and formed a clay-like model of Kim  that he keeps in a box and giggles every time he opens it and looks it.  She believes that there is a "Kim-shaped hole" in God's heart.   It is complete blasphemy.

KIm Walker is being maligned.

No, Floating Axe...    There are videos I cannot post on here, of her alleged experiences with Jesus. I am not making any of this up.  You can "google"  any thing I say.   She is a false prophet and Jesus Culture is a charismatic/word of faith cult and they are part of a large cult known as the New Apostolic Reformation.
