last year we had a very long thread on this subject...    someone should find it and put up a post to others to read it.....  I don't have the time right now.    This conversation is destined to go for a really long time if someone doesn't get back to the op subject of who is the restrainer.

I think I remember that.

Isn't it too bad that God did not write any prophesy to the people of the New Testament in Jesus' day. It was all written to us in the 21st century and beyond. I guess these people were unloved and uncared for by God for some reason. Maybe it was because they were mostly illiterate, uneducated, poor, and generally worthless. That would explain why God loves us so much and why he wrote most of all prophesy to us today.

You foolish people - Josephus tells us who the restrainer was - it is recorded in history. Near Passover of 66AD (Nissan 8th) the Shekinah Glory of God was seen departing the Temple. It moved to the top of the mount of Olives where it was reported to have stayed unto the end of the great tribulation of Jerusalem. Shortly after this event - the war broke out against the Romans which led to the Judgment of Israel. The war could not begin until this restrainer was visibly removed - and this was God's sign that it had happened. The very same identical thing happened just before the destruction of the Temple of Solomon according to Ezekiel.

Get rid of these 21st century useless speculations - Paul, Jesus, and Daniel all wrote to the day of the first century Christians. It's all past.

No I am not a  Preterist in fact I don't belong to any popular school of thought. I'm a person that sees the 6,000 year old Bible a book that is full of Prophesy. Do you think that any of these Prophesies have come to pass up to our day? How do you know? The only way to know is to read history. History is the only way to know what has been fulfilled and what has not been fulfilled. Except for the last couple chapters of Revelation it has ALL been fulfilled.

If you read Josephus's account of WARS of the JEWS you call see within all of the prophesies of Jesus, Paul, and Daniel have come to pass - all of them. I would be glad to share if their is anyone interested.

Question: "What biblical prophecies were fulfilled in AD 70?"

Answer: Much of importance happened in Israel in AD 70, and many link the events of that time to prophecies in the Bible. In studying this subject, it’s good to remember that prophecy does not describe the future in the same way that history describes the past. That’s why there are varied interpretations of biblical prophecy. Predictions dealing with the end times, a category known as eschatology, are of particular interest to many people. Within modern Christianity, most of these discussions are less about which events are predicted than when the events will happen. The most common point of reference for these opinions is the significant year of AD 70, when the Romans destroyed the Jewish temple.

Virtually all Christian interpretations of biblical prophecy agree that several prophecies were fulfilled in or before AD 70. Jesus predicted the destruction of the temple (Luke 21:6Matthew 24:2) and, some would argue, the Jewish genocide at the hands of Rome (Luke 23:27-31). Historically, these events align extremely well with Jesus’ statements. There is broad agreement within most Christian interpretations that these prophecies were literally fulfilled in AD 70.

There is debate is over whether additional prophecies, such as those found in Daniel chapter 9, Matthew chapters 24 and 25, and Revelation chapters 6—18, were also fulfilled in AD 70 or if they are yet to come. Partial preterismand full preterism hold that most, if not all, of the prophetic events in the Bible were completed by the end of the first century, mostly prior to AD 70. Dispensationalism holds that only the temple destruction and possibly the genocide were actually fulfilled in AD 70 and that the rest of the prophecies will have a future fulfillment during the tribulation.

In terms of historical evidence, there is little to make a definitive case one way or the other. The events of AD 70 can be made to fit certain prophetic claims, depending on one’s perspective. Of course, if one is willing to apply a high enough degree of symbolic interpretation, any prophecy can be made to conform to almost any event. It should be noted, however, that most non-dispensational interpretations require the book of Revelation to have been written prior to AD 70, something that general scholarship does not support.

The most serious difficulties in claiming all the prophecies were fulfilled in AD 70 are theological. In particular, preterism requires scriptural passages to be interpreted with a chaotic blend of extremely literal and extremely figurative language. One would have to interpret words, verses, and phrases that appear in the same discourse, or even the same paragraph, with a different literal-figurative assumption.

The most reasonable interpretation is that the genocide and destruction of the temple were prophecies fulfilled in AD 70, and that the other events described in Daniel, Matthew, and Revelation are yet to occur. They are truly end-times predictions.

Get rid of these 21st century useless speculations - Paul, Jesus, and Daniel all wrote to the day of the first century Christians. It's all past.

If "it's all past" then the Bible should simply be another history book gathering dust on shelves.  Unfortunately (for you) and fortunately for everyone else, it's all mostly in the future.

The mystery of iniquity....lawlessness...Jesus said he would say unto them depart from him those who work iniquity. The Tower of BIBLE has been built and many come to get their ears tickled each week by the sooth sayers who say peace when there is no peace.

Not sure what you are trying to express. What do you have to say about the subject itself?
