Isaiah 2:4   And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

This can only happen during the millennium. They are not allowed to war, but after the DRAGON is let out AFTER THE 1000 YEARS.....they will only have time to make basic weapons.

Ok, you don't see Damascus as the "great city" but you see Damascus as being one of the cities that fell in Armageddon.

the problem I have with this thinking is that it seems to me Armageddon is about all the nations rallying together to fight Jesus. I don't get the impression nation is fighting against nation and then Jesus returns to kill all the bad people on both sides.

Thoughts?

Hi Spock,

Now I don`t see the earthquake as Armageddon. I`ll go & prepare a count down from Armageddon to the Lord`s return & show where the great earthquake is. OK?

Marilyn.

Hi Spock,

Here is the first part of my timeline of the final lead up to the Lord`s return.

  1. The battle of Armageddon.

`…they are spirits of demons ….which go out to the kings of the earth & of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. …..And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon.` (Rev. 16: 14 – 16)

Armageddon is literally the Mount of Megiddo. It also includes the great plain that stretches across Israel from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River. It is here in this plain of Mount Megiddo that the world`s armies gather. It is a strategic centre for such a rendezvous. It is also the gateway to Israel, with the intersection of three continents, Europe, Asia & Africa, & has a large port of Haifa at its western end.

Thus all the armies if the world will gather at Armageddon & form one gigantic army.

Battle – Gk. Word `polemos,` meaning a campaign that extends over a period of time.

The actual battle to wipe out Israel will be over a large area & for a considerable period of time.

The European armies from the west.

    The kings of the east.

The Islamic force from the centre.

The African armies from the south.

This mighty army will set out information from the Mediterranean Sea & right across to the Jordan Valley. It will sweep through the valley of Jezreel & then on through Samaria conquering & subduing every town & village, exterminating all Israelis enroute.

`It shall come to pass in all the land, says the Lord, that two-thirds (of the people of Israel) in it will be cut off & die, but one-third shall be left in it.` (Zech. 13: 8 & 9)

For the people of Israel it will be a terrible time. They will flee to the mountains & cry out to God. Finally this mighty world army will encompass the city of Jerusalem, which will eventually be overwhelmed, conquered & looted.

`But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. Then let those in Judea flee to the mountains….` (Luke 21: 20 & 21)

Israel as a nation will be broken & crushed. The armies of all the nations of the world will be marshaled in victory formation outside Jerusalem. What a triumph! The whole world`s armies against little Israel! What an overkill.

Hi Spock,

Here is the next part - (still more to come.)

   2. The 3 ½ days.

The two witnesses that have been in Jerusalem proclaiming God`s word are now killed. Their bodies are not buried but exposed to the whole world for 3 ½ days. The world rejoices thinking that finally they have got rid of those two men who tormented them.

`Now when they (2 witnesses) finish their testimony the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, & kill them. And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which is spiritually called Sodom & Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. (Jerusalem)

Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues & nations will see their dead bodies 3 ½ days, & not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves. And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, & send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.` (Rev. 11: 7 – 10)

(Note the 2 witnesses – 1,260 days/ 42 months, (Rev. 11: 3)

& the Beast – 42 months. (Rev. 13: 5)

   3. The 4th day.

On the ½ day, the 4th day we read that the 2 witnesses are resurrected by God & ascend to heaven, much to the astonishment of the world.

`Now after the 3 ½ days the breath of life from God entered them, & they stood on their feet, & great fear fell on those who saw them. And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, & their enemies saw them.` (Rev. 11: 11 & 12)

Next we read that in the same hour as the 2 witnesses ascending that there will be a great earthquake.

`In the same hour there was a great earthquake, & a tenth of the city fell. In the earthquake seven thousand men were killed, & the rest were afraid & gave glory to the God of heaven.` (Rev. 11: 13)

This is shown here just in relation to Israel. However further in Revelation we are given more details of this great earthquake. Note this is after the battle of Armageddon.

`…and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty & great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth. Now the great city (Jerusalem) was divided into three parts, & the cities of the nations fell.` (Rev. 16: 18 & 19)

Hi Spock,

Here is the last part of my `timeline.` Hope it helps.

  4. The Final Day –  darkness & the Lord`s return.

We read that after the 2 witnesses ascend to heaven & there is a great earthquake that the Lord is about to come & reign over the nations.

`Then the 7th angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord & of His Christ.”` (Rev. 11: 15)

The prophets Zechariah, Isaiah & Joel have been given more detail on this event.

`you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake …..thus the Lord my God will come, & all His holy ones with Him. It shall come to pass in that day that there will be no light; the lights will diminish. It shall be one day which is known to the Lord – neither day nor night. But at evening it shall happen that is will be light. ` (Zech. 14: 5 – 7)

`…& in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley……..And in that day is shall be that living waters shall flow from Jerusalem, half of them towards the eastern sea & half towards the western sea.` (Zech. 14: 4 & 8)

`So the Lord of hosts will come down to fight for Mount Zion & for its hill. Like birds flying about, so will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem. Defending, He will also deliver it; passing over, He will preserve it.` (Isa. 31: 4 & 5)

`Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! (Jehoshaphat below Jerusalem) For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. The sun & moon will grow dark & the stars will diminish their brightness. The Lord will roar from Zion, & utter His voice from Jerusalem. The Heavens & earth will shake; but the Lord will be a shelter for His people….` (Joel 3: 14 – 16)

`And this is the plague with which the Lord will strike all the people who fought against Jerusalem: their flesh shall dissolve while they stand on their feet, their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets, & their tongues shall dissolve in their mouths.` (Zech. 14: 12)

The blood will then flow from man & beast & fill up the valley of Jehoshaphat to a height of the horses bridles & then flow up & down the Jordan valley for 200 miles. Finally the birds are summoned to God`s great feast. (Rev. 14: 20    19: 17 & 18)

Thus I see the sequence as –

  1. The Battle of Armageddon over a period of time, culminating around Jerusalem.

  2. The 2 witnesses are killed, lie dead in the street for 3 ½ days, then come to life & rise to heaven.

  3. Immediately there is a great earthquake – Jerusalem split in three & the cities of the earth fall.

  4. Darkness is over the earth. At evening there comes light which is the Lord & His angelic hosts in power & great glory coming to earth.

  5. The Lord comes to the Mount of Olives & deals with the world`s armies.

A bit odd you have these two paragraphs together;

(Zech) when their flesh, sockets and tongues dissolve, and then their blood flowing (Rev),  the two events cannot co-exist.

together.  No place in Scripture says the blood flows up and down the Jordan.

Another oddity is Christ reaps (Armageddon) from atop a cloud and this happens in the Valley of Megiddo west of Nazareth.  Or near Mt Carmel; Yet you say:

Things don't add up;  Megiddo to the North of Jerusalem or Jehoshaphat to the South of Jerusalem.  Which is it?

Hi Montana Marv,

You are right that no scripture says the blood glows up & down the Jordan. However when we read that the blood came up to the horse` bridles, & then that water flows out from the Mount of Olives, then I think obviously it has to flow somewhere. Thus the fresh water from the Mount splitting open will flow out into the valley of Jehoshaphat, (from east & west,  Zech. 14: 4) carrying away all the blood etc & cleansing the area. The valley of Jehoshaphat eventually flows into the Jordan & thus the cleansing waters would flow up & down that river.

Now where do you get the Lord reaping Armageddon from atop a cloud in the valley of Megiddo. And I think you need to look on a map to see where Armageddon is. It is north of Israel & as I have explained the armies of the world will come down through Israel till they get to Jerusalem & surround it. Some of the army will come down to Jerusalem & some of the army will come around & up to Jerusalem.

`Assemble & come, all you nations, & gather together all around. Cause your mighty ones to go down there,......let the nations be awakened & come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: For there I will sit to judge....` (Joel 3: 11 & 12)

Marilyn.

Marv is correct. Wadis from the area of Jerusalem flow into the Dead Sea, not the Jordan.

First of all you need to know what a winepress looks like.  It was circular, had a channel with a rolling stone set in it.  The stone was rolled from a pivot point.  The stone was moved by oxen or men on the outside of the press.  Grapes were thrown into the channel from the outside.  The liquid was collected from the inside of the channel after being crushed by the wheel.

So will it be with Armageddon.  The crush is from outside - in.  The armies of the world enter from the outside, from all directions.  Their blood is diverted to the inside of the press, up to the height of the horses bridle.  If one looks at the Valley of Megiddo where Armageddon takes place, it occupies about 180 square miles, a large vat.  If one looks at the size of the armies going to Armageddon, they may occupy as much as 500 square miles, maybe 1  1/2 Billion people and many with horses.  How long will this take?  All this as Christ sits atop of a cloud (Rev 14:14)

The birds of the air clean up much of the flesh of men and horses.  How long will this take?

The valley of Jehoshaphat is where the nations come to be judged. At the beginning of the Mill.  Christ gives them direction on what He expects from them.  The Feast of Tabernacles, come each year.

Water does not flow out from the Mt of Olives.  Zech 14:8 says that living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half to the eastern sea and half to the western sea.  East and West, not North or South

In Christ
