Proportion of faith

More people come in here, so I thought I'd post this in general questions rather than doctrinal. 

'Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to excersize them accordingly: if prophesy according to the proportion of his faith;...'  

Romans 12:6, and 12:3 ...,'as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.'

Do you think some people are granted more faith than others?  What do you think about this issue. I know that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. (It says that somewhere else, not sure where). I believe your faith can grow, as God grows it.   Kind of baffling how somebody would prophecy according to his faith when a message is a message to be delivered.

Grace and mercy and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

·       “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. (Romans 12.3).

 

What this passage is saying is that we should not create false expectations in the lives of individuals. We should check what each individual expects of us, as well as whether we are able to meet each of these expectations. We must be careful not to arouse hope in people who go beyond what the Eternal is in us, as well as what He has given us.

 

·       “For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;” (Romans 12.6).

 

We must proclaim the message of the Eternal according to what the hearers are able to hear:

 

·        “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.” (John 16.12).

 

On this basis we can conclude that there are not only different levels of faith but also results of faith:

 

·        “But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” (Matthew 13.23).

 

After all, the Faith comes by hearing the voice of the Eternal:

 

·        “Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.” (Romans 10.17).

 

And the greater the willingness to hear the voice of the Eternal, the more the hearers prepare their hearts to hear it (Ezra 7:9,10), the more faith will be given to hear His voice and will:

 

·        “Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.” (Matthew 13.9-12).

·        “For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” (Hebrews 5.12-14).

 

May Jesus fill us with a willingness and ability to hear His voice so that His faith in the Eternal can grow in us.
