Christian Science is a strange amalgam of teachings, which are quite different from Bible Christianity. It has another Gospel and another Jesus.  Please note their distortion of the sacrifice of Christ:

Final deliverance from error, whereby we rejoice in immortality, boundless freedom, and sinless sense, is not reached through paths of flowers nor by pinning one’s faith without works to another’s vicarious effort. Whosoever believeth that wrath is righteous or that divinity is appeased by human suffering, does not understand God.

"Another's vicarious effort" is a reference to the vicarious sufferings of Christ on behalf of humanity.  Thus: "We acknowledge that the crucifixion of Jesus and his resurrection served to uplift faith to understand eternal Life, even the allness of Soul, Spirit, and the nothingness of matter."  It would be impossible to decipher exactly what this obfuscation means, but it is certainly not the true Gospel.

Question: "What is Christian Science?"

Answer:
Christian Science was begun by Mary Baker Eddy (1821-1910), who pioneered new ideas about spirituality and health. Inspired by her own experience of healing in 1866, Eddy spent years in Bible study, prayer, and research of various healing methods. The result was a system of healing she dubbed “Christian Science” in 1879. Her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, broke new ground in the understanding of the mind-body-spirit connection. She went on to found a college, a church, a publishing enterprise, and the respected newspaper “The Christian Science Monitor.” Because of its similarity to other groups, many believe Christian Science to be a non-Christian cult.

Christian Science teaches that God—Father-Mother of all—is completely good and wholly spiritual and that all God's creation, including the true nature of every person, is the flawless spiritual likeness of the Divine. Since God’s creation is good, evils such as disease, death, and sin cannot be a part of fundamental reality. Rather, these evils are the result of living apart from God. Prayer is a central way to come closer to God and heal human ills. This differs from the Bible, which teaches that man is born in sin inherited from Adam’s fall and that sin separates us from God. Without God’s saving grace through the death of Christ on the cross, we would never be healed of the ultimate sickness—sin.

Rather than teaching that Jesus heals our spiritual sickness (see Isaiah 53:5), Christian Scientists see Jesus’ ministry as their own paradigm for healing, believing it demonstrates the centrality of healing in regard to salvation. Christian Scientists pray to realize more of the reality of God and God's love daily and to experience and help others experience the harmonizing, healing effects of this understanding.

For most Christian Scientists, spiritual healing is an effective first choice and, as a result, they turn to the power of prayer in lieu of medical treatment. Government authorities have occasionally challenged this approach, especially in circumstances when medical treatment is withheld from minors. However, there is no church policy mandating members' health-care decisions.

Christian Science has no ministers. Rather, the Bible and Science and Health act as pastor and preacher. Bible lessons are studied daily and read aloud on Sunday by two elected lay members of each local congregation. Christian Science churches also hold weekly testimonial meetings, at which congregation members relate experiences of healing and regeneration.

Of all the “Christian” cults in existence, “Christian Science” is the most inaccurately named. Christian Science is neither Christian or based on science. Christian Science denies all the core truths of what makes a system “Christian.” Christian Science is, in fact, opposed to science and points to mystical new-age spirituality as the path for physical and spiritual healing. Christian Science should be recognized and rejected as the anti-Christian cult that it is.

Healing is meant for people to turn towards God instead of lying in bed weak. Both the healer and the healed may not get saved if they don't cultivate the fruit of the Spirit!

Medicine is basically food. It may help in recovery. It is too much to expect God to heal through prayer when He has given wisdom to men to act reasonably. Paul advised Timothy to use wine for his ailment. Paul was never relieved of his problem despite prayers. All possible help should be extended to a sick person including prayers.

The problem with Christian science trying to promote miraculous healing is that the false doctrine contained within Christian science prevents any healing the way Mirium grumbling about Moses kept Israel from moving towards the promised land (Numbers 12).

It has been years since I read a textbook for the Christian science camp as a new believer interested in a career in healthcare.  The book was a utter disappointment.  It has nothing to do with the Bible or with any sort of God given capacity to heal from infirmities.  It was about how God was love; and God is love (1 John 4:8).  However, man is also made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27).  God is not just a gaseous ball of impartial love governed by mans choice to see Him this way.  He is a decisive being with supreme authority capable of creating a man in His image.

Therefore, I think they represent the potential for healing that we have as believers poorly.  I do not believe we are dependent on man made medicine for healing.  We are dependent on truth.  Where there is no truth, there can be no healing regardless of the method used.  Nosocomial infections are a leading cause of death, which are infections caused by seeking help for one medical condition, and contracting another ailment because of seeking help from the modern healthcare system.  You may die using the Christian science approach, but you may lose your quality of life using the modern healthcare system.  So, in my opinion, we need to keep looking for a better way to approach the often unavoidable trial of sickness experienced in this life.

"I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the father except through me." (John 14:6).

My understanding of Christian Science is that it is much like the ancient cult of Gnosticism.  It believes that the spiritual world is reality and the physical world is not reality.  So they deny the physical world and try to believe in the spiritual world.  This may include Christ's coming in the flesh to die on the cross for our sins, and suffering the anguish of physical torture.  1 John claims this is the spirit of the antichirist.
