Scripture says he [the eighth head] belongs to the seven. (Rev 17:11)

Now here you said from above:  The five who fell were the spiritual authorities over the 5 world-dominating empires before Rome, who all persecuted God's people: Egypt, Assyria, Chaldean Babylon, Persia, and Greece. The "one is," in John's time, was the spiritual ruler of Rome.

None of these kingdoms were around when 'azazel' was active on earth.  So it is impossible for him to belong to any of them.  Now the abyss is not opened up until the 5th Trumpet.  You yourself are discrediting what you say. If one looks into the book of Job, it is Satan that is the one who destroys. He deceived Eve.  He is the top dog of the fallen angels. (not 'azazel')  Those angels who reside in the abyss are locked up.  Satan is unlocked.  He is able to visit Heaven, he would also be able to visit the abyss.  He (Satan) is their leader.

As I quoted from scripture in my prior post, the Greek says that the eighth head is "ek / out of the seven"; you say it belongs to the seven, but have provided no evidence for this other than your own word.

Rev. 13:1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name.

According to the Book of Enoch, and confirmed in Leviticus 10 and a Jewish Midrash, and taught yearly in conservative Jewish synagogues on Yom Kippur, Azazel was the baddest of the fallen angels:

Enoch 9:5-6 “You have seen what Azazel has done, how he has taught every species of iniquity upon Earth… Semhazai has also taught sorcery…” 10:12 “All the earth has been corrupted by the effects of the teaching of Azazel. To him therefore ascribe the whole crime.”

The sentence in bold above shows why the sins are placed upon the head of the goat on Yom Kippur, which goat is then taken "to/for Azazel." Lev. 16:8, 10, 26 In Temple times,

[T]he goat designated for Azazel was given to the kohen [priest] assigned to lead it away into the wilderness. And when this kohen came to the designated ravine…he pushed the goat into the ravine.” The Rabbinical Assembly, Machzor for Rosh Hashanh and Yom Kippur, 611.

This act at the ravine, which is not included in the instructions of Lev. 16., clearly was a custom or oral law added to commemorate Azazel's being cast into the Abyss at the time of the Flood:

Enoch 87:5; 10:15, 9 [God's archangels]cast them [the rebellious fallen angels] into the cavities of the earth. …“Bind them for 70 generations underneath the earth, even to the day of judgmentand in the great day of judgment let [them] be cast into the fire.

When the Abyss is reopened at the 5th Trumpet (Rev. 9:2), the fallen angels are released. They have "a king over them, the angel of the Abyss" (9:11). Who can this be but Azazel? When he ascends, he becomes the Beast of Rev. 11, 13, 17, 19, "who will ascend out of the Abyss and go to perdition [the lake of fire: "be cast into the fire"]." Rev. 17:8 Satan gives him all the worldly power developed by of all the beast-kingdoms who ruled over the earth after the Flood.

Enoch 53:5-6the host of Azazel…became ministers of Satan, and seduced those who dwell upon earth.

Rev. 13:2 The Dragon [will give] him [the Beast] his power, his throne, and great authority.

Your timing is way off.  First of all the beast that the dragon gives power to in Rev 13:1 is a kingdom. [It will have all the attributes of Babylon, Medo-Persa, Greece, and Rome]  Secondly; one of the heads (leader which later is also called a beast) of this kingdom beast had a fatal wound.  Then the fatal wound was healed on this leader/beast and the whole world followed after this beast (v3). [this will be likened to Christ rising on the third day from the grave]   This all begins at the onset of the 70th Week. This leader/beast/Antichrist exercises his authority for 42 months (v.5)  This is also referenced to 2 Thes 2:3 - That day will not come until the rebellion (falling away) occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed.

The 5th Trumpet when the Abyss is opened occurs well after the A/D is set up and into the second 42 month period of the 70th Week.  And most likely the last 1 1/2 years of the Great Trib.  Satan the Dragon is hurled down at the time the A/D is set up and is in total control for the second 42 month period.

The Book of Enoch is not of Scripture.  Josephus and his writings are not of Scripture.  You put a lot of credence in secular writings.

Oh really? Then tell us how a kingdom can ascend out of the Abyss.

The Beast, like all of the Beasts of Dan. 7, is a spiritual ruler, a Power, over a kingdom/empire. That type of spirit is able to dominate and control a whole lineage of earthly kings, as the history of Daniel 11's Kings of the North and South make abundantly clear.

Secondly; one of the heads (leader which later is also called a beast) of this kingdom beast had a fatal wound.  Then the fatal wound was healed on this leader/beast and the whole world followed after this beast (v3). [this will be likened to Christ rising on the third day from the grave]

The Beast that had the fatal wound was the Roman Empire, which was wounded unto death in 476 AD, when the last emperor of Rome was deposed by the German chieftain Odoacer. But the deadly wound was healed through the ascent of the Papacy to temporal power, and its subsequent revival of the Roman Empire, when the Pope crowned Charlemagne Holy Roman Emperor in 800 AD.

This all begins at the onset of the 70th Week. This leader/beast/Antichrist exercises his authority for 42 months (v.5)  This is also referenced to 2 Thes 2:3 - That day will not come until the rebellion (falling away) occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed.

This is a conflation of many unsubstantiated teachings, pure unprovable dogma about "the Antichrist." The Bible says very little about this one, except to call him a spirit that was "already in the world" in the Apostle John's day. 1 John 4:3 All of your above claims are the teachings of men, not scripture.

The 5th Trumpet when the Abyss is opened occurs well after the A/D is set up

A true statement!

and into the second 42 month period of the 70th Week.  And most likely the last 1 1/2 years of the Great Trib.  Satan the Dragon is hurled down at the time the A/D is set up and is in total control for the second 42 month period.

Unsupported doctrines of men.

The Book of Enoch is not of Scripture.  Josephus and his writings are not of Scripture.  You put a lot of credence in secular writings.

Moses, Peter, and John put a lot of credence in the Book of Enoch, as did many of the Ante-Nicene fathers. Not bad company. The Book of Enoch is not in the canon of Western Church, which canon was established after Christianity became the state religion of Rome, but it is in other Christian canons.

Re: putting a lot of credence in secular writings: nearly all of your statements above are likewise, being from non-scriptural writings of men.

Scripture does not back what you say.  Let's look at Rev 9: 1-12

v. 3b - They were given power like that of a scorpion.  They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.  They were not given power to kill them, but power only to torture them for five months.  v.6 - During those days men will seek death, but will not find it; they long to die, but death will elude them.  v. 10b - They had the power to torment people for five months.

So the Az team (Azazel and his horde) are told to do only one thing, the power to torment those without Gods seal for 5 months.  Scripture does not reveal Azazel being given power by Satan as you say.  He, Azazel  and the Az team torment people for 5 months.  No one follows Azazel.  They seduce no one, they torment them.

Rev. 9:11 And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon [Destroyer], but in Greek he has the name Apollyon [Destroyer].

You have only cited part of the passage, out of context. What does a destroyer do? He destroys. The scorpions are just the shock troops that come before worse things, such as the great destructions of the 6th Trumpet.

The king over them is not give any power except to torment those with the mark of the beast or those who have worshiped the beast with the fatal wound.  The beast who comes out of the sea is the revamped Roman Empire.  Yet this empire also has the attributes of Babylon (Lion), Medo-Persa (Bear), and Greece (Leopard).  Future Rome are the ten toes of clay and iron mixed. (Dan 2:42)

This revamped Roman Empire begins at the onset of this 70th Week.  The Abyss is opened well after the A/D is set up.  So this Azazel of yours does not influence or is given any authority over this newly revamped Rome Empire.  He also cannot be the beast of this Empire, nor can he be the False Prophet as you suggest.  Your timing is way way off.  Your theory is way way off.

Your evidence for this statement? None. Your response to him being called Destroyer, not Tormenter? None.

This is the King of the Abyss, the top dog, head honcho. The Beast "will ascend out of the Abyss," Rev. 17:8. Are you telling us that the Beast is another spirit from the Abyss, who would be inferior in authority to the King of the Abyss -- and yet the King of the Abyss has only power to Torment?? Your reasoning fails on every side.

The beast who comes out of the sea is the revamped Roman Empire.  Yet this empire also has the attributes of Babylon (Lion), Medo-Persa (Bear), and Greece (Leopard).  Future Rome are the ten toes of clay and iron mixed. (Dan 2:42)

More in your long line of claims without material support. More in your long line of ignoring my questions of you, and misrepresenting what I say. What I have long said is that the King of the Abyss is the same spirit as the Beast who ascends out of the Abyss, the Beast of Rev. 11, 13, 17, and 19. Nowhere do I "suggest" the King of the Abyss is the False Prophet:

The Beast is Not a (7-headed!) Man

It is widely taught in the Church that the Beast of Revelation 13 will be a man. This teaching is false. Revelation 13’s Beast has “7 heads and 10 horns.” There never has been, nor ever will be, such a man.

We find in Rev. 12:3 that the Devil/Satan/Dragon also has 7 heads and 10 horns. Satan is an angelic spirit. We know that the Holy Spirit can inhabit many people. We know that God took the spirit that was upon Moses and divided it among 70 elders. Num. 11:16f. We read that Jesus addressed the many-demoned spirit (singular) Legion as “thou” and “thy” (singular), and it answered him saying “my,” not “our.” Mark. 5:7-10 Therefore, we can justifiably conclude that the 7-headed Beast is a spirit, not a man.

The Beast’s 7 Heads

Rev. 17:8-10 tells us that in John’s time, the 7-headed Beast “was, and is not [present], and will ascend out of the Abyss and go to perdition… The 7 heads are 7 mountains…and are 7 kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must remain a short time.”

Jeremiah 51:24-26 and Daniel 2:34-35, 44-45 tell us that speaking prophetically, mountains represent great kingdoms-empires. Daniel 7:3-7 speaks of “four great beasts [that come] up from the sea.” Verse 17 tells us, “Those great beasts…are four kings.” Verse 23 tells us, “The fourth beast” (and presumably the other three also) “shall be a fourth kingdom on earth…” Therefore, speaking prophetically, beasts and kings represent powerful spirits that rule over kingdoms/empires on Earth. Daniel 11 shows that the same spirit-king can serially possess, or at least control, a long lineage of human kings throughout the duration of an empire.

Clearly, then, the 7 mountains/kings/Beast’s heads of Rev. 17 represent powerful spirits over earthly empires. (The “one [that] is” in John’s day was obviously the spiritual king over the Roman Empire.) It is also evident that the Beast itself, which possesses ALL of these 7 heads, must be an even greater spirit than they.

Who IS the Beast?

We saw above that “the Beast will ascend out of the Abyss.” Rev. 17:8; 11:7 So then, we need to discover WHO is presently in the Abyss, and WHY? These questions have been answered by Jude, Peter, Enoch, and also in Hebrew and Greek mythology:

Jude 6 The angels who did not keep their place of authority, but left their habitation, [God] has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day.

2 Peter 2:4 …God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus, and delivered them into chains of darkness [or, pits of gloom], to be reserved for judgment…

Tartarus is a term from Greek mythology, referring to the lowest pit (abyss) of Hades/Hell, wherein the Titans – rebellious gods of old – anciently had been cast by the “good” gods/spiritual powers.

The Book of Enoch, quoted in Jude 14-15, provides more details. Briefly, angelic Watchers (cf. Jer. 4:16; Dan. 4:13, 17, 23) – “the sons of God” (Gen. 6:2) became enamored by the beauty of human women, and came down (“left their habitation,” Jude 6) to have God-forbidden intercourse with them. Genesis 6:1-2 quotes Enoch 7:1-2. (Verse numbers for Enoch are taken from the Laurence translation.) These angels and their hybrid progeny (Nephilim/giants, Gen. 6:4 etc.) soon corrupted mankind with sorcery, the arts of harlotry, and the arts of war. After “all flesh had corrupted their way” (Gen. 6:12), God decreed the Flood “to destroy from under heaven all flesh” except for Noah’s family. Gen. 6:17 At that time, God sent archangels to bind the rebellious Watchers, and to seal them into great pits rent in the earth:

Enoch 87:5; 10:15, 9 [They]cast them into the cavities of the earth. …“ind them for 70 generations underneath the earth, even to the day of judgmentand in the great day of judgment let [them] be cast into the fire.”

So, these are the ones who are in the Abyss/Tartarus. Enoch tells us that they had two primary leaders:

Enoch 9:5-6 “You have seen what Azazel has done, how he has taught every species of iniquity upon Earth… Semhazai has also taught sorcery…” 10:12 “All the earth has been corrupted by the effects of the teaching of Azazel. To him therefore ascribe the whole crime.”

The Abyss

Genesis 7:11 tells us that at the Flood, “all the fountains of the great deep were broken up.” The Book of Jasher 6:11 records that “the Lord caused the whole earth to shake, and the sun darkened, and the foundations of the world raged, and the whole earth was moved violently…” The Talmud, Sanhedrin 108b, records that “seven days before the Deluge, the Holy One changed the primeval order, and the sun rose in the west and set in the east”: that is, Earth turned over, physically reversing its poles.

During these catastrophic events, great chasms were torn open in the earth’s surface, into which the rebellious angels were cast. Some people theorize that the great oceanic trenches, to over seven miles in depth, are remnants of these fissures. Africa’s Great Rift Valley is another such fissure; a branch of which extends northward through the Dead Sea, the Jordan River Valley, and beyond.

Mosaic Law and Jewish Lore about Azazel

Leviticus 16 is Mosaic Law for Yom Kippur/the Day of Atonement, the holiest day of the year in the Israelite religious calendar. In verses 8, 10, and 26, the word usually translated in English as “scapegoat” is Azazel: the passages in Hebrew literally read “to/for Azazel.” “[A]ll the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions concerning all their sins, put…on the head of the goat” sent to/for Azazel. Lev. 16:21 – see Enoch 10:12 above.

This act at the ravine, which is not included in the instructions of Leviticus 16, clearly was a custom that was added to commemorate Azazel’s being cast into the Abyss at the time of the flood.

The King of the Abyss

At the opening of the 6th seal, a Latter Day “great earthquake…[causes] every mountain and island [to] move out of its place.” Rev. 6:12, 14  Sometime thereafter, “a star having fallen from heaven to the earth…[is] given the key to the Abyss. And he open the Abyss,” releasing its demonic spirits. Rev. 9:1-2f. This “fallen star” is either Satan or one of his host, recently “cast out [of heaven] to the earth” by Michael and his host.  Rev. 12:7-9

Rev. 9:11 tells us that there is a “king over them [the Abyss’s demons], the angel of the Abyss, whose name is…Abaddon/Apollyon [Destroyer].” From the evidence shown above, this fallen angel must be Azazel, whose evils led to the destruction of the Noahic world: the Beast whose spirit has underlain the 7 great beasts/kings/kingdoms of subsequent ages. Even as his spirit was before, and will be again, underlain by that of Satan the Dragon:

Enoch 53:5-6the host of Azazel…became ministers of Satan, and seduced those who dwell upon earth.

Rev. 13:2 The Dragon [will give] him [the Beast] his power, his throne, and great authority.

Rev. 17:8 tells us “the Beast will ascend out of the Abyss, and go to perdition.” Rev. 13:1 says the Beast “rises up out of the sea.” As we saw above, there are remnants of ancient fissures in the earth, both on land and under the sea. The False Prophet, who “performs great signs” and “speaks like a dragon” – attributes of powerful sorcery – “comes up out of the earth.” Rev. 13:11, 13 This beast is most likely Semhazai, the earthly progenitor of sorcery.

After being allowed by the Lord to deceive the nations, the Beast and False Prophet are defeated by Christ and “cast alive into the lake of fire.” Rev. 19:20 This fulfills the judgment prophesied for them in Jude 6, 2 Peter 2:4, and Enoch 15:9, all quoted above.

When the Abyss is reopened at the 5th Trumpet (Rev. 9:2), the fallen angels are released. They have "a king over them, the angel of the Abyss" (9:11). Who can this be but Azazel? When he ascends, he becomes the Beast of Rev. 11, 13, 17, 19, "who will ascend out of the Abyss and go to perdition [the lake of fire: "be cast into the fire"]." Rev. 17:8 Satan gives him all the worldly power developed by of all the beast-kingdoms who ruled over the earth after the Flood.

The 5th Trumpet is opened most likely about 12 to 16 months before Armageddon.  This leader who comes up out of  the Abyss is Satan (for he has free reign; he is unlocked, he can to go into heaven, he can also go into the Abyss to rally his troops)

Enoch 53:5-6the host of Azazel…became ministers of Satan, and seduced those who dwell upon earth.

Those who come up out of the Abyss torment people for 5 months, they do not seduce people.

Rev. 13:2 The Dragon [will give] him [the Beast] his power, his throne, and great authority.

He gives the revamped Roman Empire these things, not Azazel.

William

A lot of nonsense what you say;  Rev 13 describes 3 different beasts; a kingdom (out of the sea), a leader with a fatal wound (exercises his authority for 42 months), and a miraculous signs worker (out of the earth - False prophet)  So which one of these does Azazel have authority over.

So how can Satan give power to Azazel when Azazel is still in the Abyss?  Azazel does not come on the scene until at least 5 1/2 to 6 years after the Roman Empire along with these 3 beasts of Rev 13 have come on the scene.  Azazel is not around when Satan and his host are thrown out of Heaven.  Satan cannot visit Heaven anymore, but he can visit the Abyss.   Azazel is an insignificant player during this 70th Week.   Scripture only gives him one task; to torment people for 5 months.  I say Satan is the leader of ALL the fallen angels.

And from the 5th Trumpet on, it is still God who is causing all these things to happen.  All the 7 Seals, 7 Trumpets and 7 Bowls are all from God.  Again, Azazel and his horde torment people, they do not seduce people as you say.

In Christ
