Is anyone here under the impression that there is such an animal as an "honest" politician?

The culture of power is the culture of corruption. Every single politician out there, is bent to some degree, you can't win elections without money and you can't get money without selling your support for the donors issues.  There is no clean politician out there

I would agree that Trump will not be beholding to a lot of people, I just5 worry that he will not be beholding to the voters

Yet I cannot find a better choice out there

Both Rubio and Cruz lost my vote when they turned Republican cannibal attacking trump

well, he's smart enough to know not to cancel a speech to a prominent pro-Israel advocacy group.  As mean as Cruz has been, I guess Kasich didn't want to be the only other one there.

Personally I think Trump is afraid of a debate with so few people.   He would have to give real answers and could not get away with repeating "fraud, waste and abuse" 100 times.

LoL   maybe he knows a little more about the waste and abuse than you do....    are you aware that our Senator who resigned not too long ago wrote a book for several years of how we could balance the budget overnight.....   and none of the other Senators would get together to make even some of it happen.....   We can ballance the budget just by getting rid of programs that don't work and stop the fraud.....

The latest one was named "Back in Black"        Trump could take that one book and become a hero, it's that simple.

in case you might want to look it over...

I read just today that one senator or congressman wants to put a per mile tax on our vehicles. No its not a conspiracy or right wing site lol. He wants to put something on cars so that you get charged per mile. To make up for so called lost revenue to repair roads. While repairing roads sounds like a great idea, we already have a tax on gas for that. And it penalizes some poor folks like the navajos on the rez who must travel 90 miles (as I did) just to get to a bank. Or anyone who lives out west and travels greater distances than eastern folks.
