I agree with you it's not specifically about tattoos however, because the argument can be made that tattoos do not destroy the body. If there is anything about the human body and soul in the first passage, it is that God will destroy the man who destroys the Temple - the church. The church at Corinth was under attack from within. When Paul says "you" are the Temple in 1 Corinthians 3, he is talking to the church. I won't post the whole of chapter 3 on here. Those with Bibles can read it themselves. The "you" in 1 Corinthians 6 is about the individual who is sinning sexually. Edited May 27, 2016 by Jayne

The NT does not forbid a tattoo. just because something is not forbidden does not mean it is good--- all things are lawful but not all things are expedient. Does it present a good testimony to the unsaved world? Are we saying to the unsaved-- look coming to Jesus is easy- you can be just like the world and still be a christian--- I have a tattoo- but I regret getting it and dont think its a good testimony-- The world wants to see something different in a Christian-- if we are just like the world whats the point of becoming a Christian?? I have read the entire chapter, and while it can certainly be applied to the church, hes talking about the human body as well. Either way though, its not a debate worth having, because if you had read my entire post, you will see that I actually agreed that that verse cant be applied to tattoos. It all depends on what kind of a tattoo a person is displaying on their body. What about John 3: 16? That is a good message. If a person has an evil tattoo on their body then no...it is not a good testimony to the world.

Think though, once you turn a certain age, they might not look quite like they did when you initially got them. lol But, I don't judge people who have them, it's a personal choice. Given how expensive tattoos are, this guy could have probably taken the same $$ and bought a house, or invested in real estate and become a millionaire, started a business, and so many other things that would have paid off way better in the future.
