Paul further declares, “Actually, then, it is already a defeat for you, that you have lawsuits with one another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded?” (1 Corinthians 6:7). The thing Paul is concerned with here is the testimony of the believer. It would be far better for us to be taken advantage of, or even abused, than it would be for us to push a person even further away from Christ by taking him/her to court. Which is more important—a legal battle or the battle for a person’s eternal soul?

I see this as referring to taking a case before unbelievers. Better to be wronged than do that................

Technically, to love your neighbor as yourself is the same teaching as eye for eye if you think about it.  If the law says eye for eye and tooth for tooth and you love your neighbor as you love yourself, how does the law of eye for eye apply.  It could be that Jesus corrected the way the law was being taught at the time.  More than likely, to love your neighbor as yourself fulfills the law saying eye for eye.

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them," (Matthew 5:17).

" But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. " (Galatians 5:22-23).

In other words, the law of eye for eye has been fulfilled.

yes ogner, from man's point of view the martyrs abiding in Jesus do not seek 'justice'(for themselves) or even what they are rightfully due.

that's one reason believers living Jesus life were called "simpletons" (and still are where they can be seen today).

Better to be wronged than to judge by the law. Because ,With what measure you judge you will be judged and those that live by the law will be judged by the same. Issues between members of the Church should keep it within the Church...That is how I see it.

Do you want Righteousness?  Justice ? Truth?

Jesus says don't condemn another.  (that kind of judging is what He says not to do).

Jesus also says , IN THE BODY, to judge one another righteously, in order not to be judged later (and more for another thread, later, God Willing).

IN THE BODY,  it is by God's WORD, by the LAW, God's Law given to us for this purpose, that we judge righteously, just as Jesus does and tells us.

i.e. do not ignore the law. The Law is Perfect and Just.

We are given the procedures of how to deal with issues among ourselves. We are to first go to the individual, then if they will not hear you, you take two or three witnesses, if they still will not hear you, then you are to take it before the entire church....There were those that were even put out of the Church.

We are not to judge by the law, lest we be judged by it. The law brings wrath, and it is not of faith. That truth makes the law neither unjust, unholy, nor bad.

Jesus never taught this.

In Matthew 5:21,22 Jesus said: "who is angry with a brother will be subjected to judgment. And whoever insults a brother will be brought before the council, and whoever says ‘Fool’ will be sent to fiery hell.".

"will be sent to fiery hell." this means put him to death.

God, through the prophet Jeremiah and David stated:

Jeremiah 22:3 "Thus says the Lord: Do justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the alien, the fatherless, and the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.".

Jeremiah 22:26 "He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well. Is not this to know me? says the Lord.".

Psalm 82:3,4 "Judge the poor and fatherless: Do justice to the afflicted and destitute. Rescue the poor and needy: Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.".

And  Matthew 7:1,2 Jesus say: "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

If you choose not to judge righteous judgment others you will be judged with the same measure you use.

Because we must John: 7:24: "Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment."

More generally Jesus say, "Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.  If you do not judge others, your heavenly Father will not be judge between you and your abuser. When people take a neutral stand between you and your abuser, they are in effect abandoning you. If you do not judge others, and you will not be judged. And that's bad. "

Jesus say, better  justice, when it is done than......... to be wronged.

Better to be wronged than to judge by the God's law?

We have the law of Christ. The passage in question concerns issues among the body of Christ. If an individual does not repent after the entire Church judges them guilty, they can be put outside the Church.

1Co 5:5  To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
1Co 7:5  Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

This in my opinon, is what Jesus spoke of when he said an eye for an eye. It is better to cut off a member than the entire body be destroyed.

We are all members of one another in Christ.

This in my opinion

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
