Trolls and even heresy hunters are usually haters of some sort. Hatred shows the hating capacity of a person. It has little to do with you or the outside world. If the hated target is removed or leaves, the hater will find another destination target.  People who hate others find reasons to hate and justify the wrongs to be right. Hate is like an acid in a vessel. Hate will burn the container from within. Most haters are just invisible, anonymous keyboard dip-sticks. Hate is their personal method of having some human connection.

Although  had no idea what a troll was until Thursday, upon my mere entry into chat, I was called a troll and have been called a troll by five people now.

So look closely at my face so you can identify a troll....This is what one looks like. I will gladly be the worthy troll if people can stop being ugly to one another around here.

I actually went looking for some information on trolls last night, because much like your post indicates, I think there is something to hatred, its targets and also receiving the flung hatred of others. You may have heard about the concept of shadow which is all we repress about ourselves - both good and bad. I think there is probably something to trolldom and the concept of the shadow...but that's a troll talking. :) This troll is going to go teach Sunday School  - on love...go figure.

Love on,

SS

I would agree that this a broad statement.  Trolls come in all shapes and sizes.

I kind of like the worthy neighborhood troll gig... and so very grateful I was named a troll from my first appearance back here. At least I know where I stand.

Years back I spent a year as a mod for a bible discussion forum.  The first task we had was to identify and report trolls which could appear on any section of the forum.  It wasn't hard because they were generally pretty obvious.  The thing about them is that they don't like to spend much time in one place and move around a lot.  A good forum administrator usually has a handle on trolling activities so they get removed and blocked right away.   If we posters (non-mods)  think we have encountered one the thing to do is report it.  It is up to the mods to then take action.  However, sometimes this can happen in the middle of the night when not many, if any, mods are online.  Then the troll can wander around on the forum taking pot shots.   You can usually tell by the troll's  interruptive and truly unkind remarks which usually have nothing to do with the subject being discussed;  but once in a while one subtly puts on a good  poster face for a while and then....generally it's hit and run for them.  Mod's can't catch them all so good to report if you encounter one.  Always remember not to convince, or argue with or even respond... (that will make them worse) ..but pray for them.   Never let them disturb you or rob you of peace.  That's what they want to do.  After reporting them, ignore them.
