Hi all.

Am new here as well to the belief. I've only been a Christian for about a year, maybe a little over a year. I feel like I'm fighting a battle the entire way though! I _want_ to believe without a speck of doubt and I _want_ to know Jesus' love but I'm the only Christian in my household. There are times when I'll have faith as strong as stone and other times, usually after my sister who is an atheist, has come over, when doubt will hit with extreme strength. Does anyone have any advice for me to overcome this doubt? Thanks

Ulisa:)

Welcome. I have been saved since January 11,2005. My advise is to take things with a grain of salt. Hold on strong to your beliefs and help your sister bring God into her life. Pray alot too, God will do the rest.

Hello and welcome to Worthy Boards Ulisa! God certainly blesses us every time we can greet a new member. :-)

The first thing to remember is that God will not task us with more than we can handle. Many thanks to our beloved saviour Jesus Christ that the Holy Spirit dwells with us and within us to lift us up and empower us to overcome our weaknesses. Have faith in God that as you are his child, he will let nothing happen to you that is not by his will. Like it or not he knows what is best for us and we should be thankful for every humbling experience and every wise and kind word.

God has blessed us by leading you here. We welcome the chance to share his love with another of his children. I hope through your fellowship with us God will empower you to overcome not only your doubt , but also the doubt of those near to you.

Hi, I am also new to being a "practicing/participating christian" and have asked this question. What I was told is that doubt, at times, is perfectly okay. In example, the nonbeliever never questions their faith as faith is not an issue on the mind. As you do question your faith let this reassure you that you must have some faith on which to build otherwise doubt would never cross your mind. Build on this small amount of faith by reading books about bibilical facts that support christianity. Also, while you are doing this avoid religious discussion until you feel strong enough that you will not be "brought down" by nay-sayers. Also living in a home where you are the only christian must be very tough. Look for someone that can join you in your walk this does WONDERS.

Hey, Ulisa!

Welcome to the club! We all have these struggles.

As someone who has been a Christian practically all my life, I can affirm that it is in walking through these struggles that your life is made stronger. With each doubt you overcome, you strengthen your faith!

Here's two ways that I have overcome doubt.

One is Scripture. If you have not gotten yourself in the habit of readingthe Bible everyday, it is imperative that you do so! If you are new to the knowledge of the Scriptures, I would recommend getting one of those "One Year" Bibles. They are organized in such a way that the writings in Scripture are in chronological order to each other, so the flow between the books makes more sense. Likewise, it directs you such that you can read the entire Bible in one year. And that is an awesome thing to do!

It is so refreshing to have knowledge of the Scriptures when going through hard times. I have been through some struggles that were so hard I thought I'd never make it, but then the Holy Spirit would recall to me a Scripture verse from my memory - simply from what I had read - and it was so applicable to what I was going through! I held onto that thing like a lifeline in storm (OK, forget the "like a"; it was!). Praise the Lord, I was carried through, and that verse literally kept me alive.

The second is remembrance. One of the times I had come face to face with some horrible evidence to shake my faith, and I questioned worse than I ever thought possible! But then I remembered . . . I remembered the times I had felt the Lord's presence, the times I know the Lord had spoken to me, the times the Lord revealed Himself to me, the times I was in trouble and cried out to Jesus to save me and I was. If those doubts were true - how could my times with the Lord have been real? I chose to believe my experiences with the Lord and not those things that called my beliefs into question, and I made it past all that.

Rev. 12:11 - And they overcame the accuser by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

I hope this helps.

God bless!

Greetings Ulisa,

I was about 10 when I accepted the Lord, but because my family was not Christian, I had no spiritual support. It's tough, so I can empathicize with you. I walked away from the Lord and considered myself an agnostic. It took until I was 30 before the Lord came into my life in such a way, that I saw his tremendous love for me and His Holiness and my utter unholiness. I wept for a long time, but when the weeping was over, I felt cleansed AND I felt the total Love God has for me. I repented of my former ways and began walking with Him.

My walk with the Lord has often been "bumpy" and I have sometimes wondered if God was there at all, but every time I got to that place, the Holy Spirit would begin to remind me of all things God had done in my life. Even today, when I begin wondering where God is in my current situation, He reminds me that "He will never leave me nor forsake me." and that "All things work for His glory and my good." He assures me through His Word that He is working everything out, and I must be patient and wait upon Him.

I agree with others, you need to be in the Word and you should attempt to read through the Bible at least once each year if not more often. Pray incessantly for all things, even if you think they are trivial. I also agree that until you are confident enough in the Word and assured of God's faithfulness, you should not try to argue or debate with unbelievers. Just let your light shine for now and let them see by your actions how God is changing you. One day, they may want what you have. Then you will have the opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them.

Welcome to Worthy. I hope you find new friends here that will encourage you and help you to understand the Word of God when you have questions. Don't get discouraged, time is on God's side, so just wait for Him. If you have questions, first go to God and remember:

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

Ulisa and Amanda,

Bless you and welcome to Worthy but more importantly, welcome to the Body of Christ...the union of believers in Jesus Christ as Lord & Savior.

Advice?

Just two things:

1. Remember that you are a Work in Process and with each passing day, you will find yourself growing spiritually and your understanding of God's will increasing. The veil is removed before your eyes and your ears are tuning in to God's Word as He speaks it to your heart. You are in HIS hands now and NOTHING can separate you from the love of the Father. HE is the Potter and you are the clay.

2 Cor 3

Hi Usila, and welcome to the family of God. If your fighting battles a lot your doing something right! The enemy will never bother you if your doing things his way. • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
