Is is okey to take an interest in other religions, and still trust the Bible as the sole authority on all issues? I borrowed a copy of the Quran because I want to know if there is a difference between the two. Is not the God of Abraham the God of both Muslims, Christians, and Jews?

Technically, He is the God of all things. ;)

But in the Quran, somewhere, does it not stay to not befriend a Christian or a Jew and also to behead the infidels. Or something?

And do you believe His words?

Hi Pam...good to meet you.

If you are an Christian established in your faith...then looking into other religions to understand what they are about is a reasonable undertaking...because you will measure what you read against what the word of G-d says...and if you meet people from other faiths you may be better equipped to present the Gospel to them.

If you are a new Christian I would suggest you put the urge to do this on the back-boiler for the time being and concentrate on getting the word of G-d from the Bible into your heart and just enjoy getting to know the L-rd Jesus ...I am sure your Pastor or leaders at your Church can give you G-dly advice about this as well.

Generally most Jews believe the Old Covenant/Testament...but have great difficulty with the Renewed/New Covenant because of the claims about Jesus the Son of David being the Messiah/Christ.

There are a growing number of Jews who have believed in Jesus and do trust the whole of the Scriptural records...all 66 books. These are generally referred to as Messianic Jews...and are our brothers and sisters.

Moslems claim to believe in G-d and the Patriarchs,Moses and Jesus/Isa...but they take their doctrines from the Qur'an and use this as an authority higher than the Bible which they claim has numerous mistakes in it.

Generally they call G-d by the name Allah...and do not believe that Jesus was the true Son of G-d who came to save mankind. They put great store by the Prophet of Islam called Mohammed who instigated the writings of the Qur'an.

Hope that helps a little...feel free to ask whatever you like.

Kind Regards. Botz.

Pam, Botz has offered some excellent advice.

While the Quran acknowledges Abraham they believe Ishmael is the heir, as his first son by Hagar, the Egyptian handmaiden of Sarah, and not Isaac.

If you first become fairly familiar with the Bible you will see vast differences between it and the Quran.

Mohammad appropriated the moon god and taught one god instead of the many that had been worshiped. Personally, I do not think Allah is the same god as worshiped by Jews and Christians. You will find some Christians that disagree with this. Indeed some very prominent Christians have said we all worship the same god. I do not think that Allah is the God of the Bible.

Of course not, they do not believe in Jesus Christ! Thus, they do not believe in God.

This is just my opinion. You don't have to accept it if you dislike it. DISCLAIMER: I am not a christian.

Dear Pam,

Actually, I think muslims, jews and christians believe in the god of abraham.

Further, the muslims and jews do not believe that jesus is god, as the christians do.

The jews and christians do not believe that mohammed was a prophet of god, as the muslims do.

The jews do not believe jesus was a prophet of god. However, the muslims do believe jesus was a prophet of god.

I know it is very confusing. I hope the above helps sort things out.

Regards,

Sura 5:50-

Oh Believers! take not the Jews or Christians as friends.  They are but one another's friends.  If any one of you taketh them for his friends, he surely is one of them!  God will not guide the evil doers.

Sura 5:70

Infidels now are they who say, 'God is the Messiah, Son of Mary;' for the Messiah said, "O children of Israel! worship God, my Lord and your Lord.'  Whoever shall join other gods with God, God shall forbid him the Garden, and his abode shall be the Fire; and the wicked will have no helpers.

They surely are Infidels who say, 'God is the third of three;' for there is no God but one God: and if they refrain not from what they say, a grievous chastisement shall light on such of them as are Infidels.

Will they not, therefore, be thrned unto God, and ask pardon of Him? since God is Forgiving, Merciful!

The Messiah, Son of Mary, is but an Apostle; other Apostles have flourished before him; and his mother was a just person: they both ate food.  Behold! how we make clear to them the signs! then behold how they turn aside.

Sura 9:20

Make war upon such of those to whom the Scriptures have been given as believe not in God, or in the last day, and who forbid not that which God and His Apostle have forbidden, and who profess not the profession of the truth, until they pay tribute out of hand, and they be humbled.

The Jews say, "Ezra is a son of God'; and the Christians say, 'The Messiah is a son of God.'  Such the sayings in their mouths!  They resemble the saying of the Infidels of old!  God do battle with them!  How they are misguided!

I hand wrote this from the Koran that I have. It says not to be a friend with a Christian and to make war upon Christians and Jews.

Oh I dearly love Jesus! :whistling: I just had to say that.

Gen 21:7 And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.

Gen 21:8 And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned.

Gen 21:9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.

Gen 21:10 Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.

Gen 21:11 And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son.

Gen 21:12 And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

Gen 21:13 And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.

Gen 21:14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.

Gen 21:15 And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.

Gen 21:16 And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.

Gen 21:17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.

Gen 21:18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.

Gen 21:19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.

Gen 21:20 And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.

Gen 21:21 And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.

The difference between Isaac and Ishmael is one was born as the promise and one born of man's own will. Isaac was of the covenant. Born to produce the line which the messiah would come through. Ishmael covenanted with Egypt; those who did not worship Yahvah.

This is what the Lord said of Ishmael:

Gen 16:11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.

Gen 16:12 And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

And is this not what we see? Darkness is a twist away from light. That is the Koran. Uses a bit of light then twists it. BUT Jesus died for all mankind and even those who are so hardened and are committing such atrocities are not dead yet. There is always hope when there is breath.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
