Cash finds in thrift shop items

Ones own money, their personal spending money and how they use it is up to that person. Agreed?

What about Believers? 

Some tithe a tenth of all income, but after paying the bills and necessaries, what's left is for their own use...

So it's fine then to leave cash for those less fortunate in zipped luggage pockets or handbags, winter jackets etc heading for the charity shops...?

One can do whatever one wishes, but leaving it in things headed for charity shops may not be the best idea. The charity shop volunteers/employees go through pockets before putting the stuff out.

Not all volunteers steal because we hear of folk buying a $5 suitcase only to find $500 in it.

This isnt a right or wrong answer/question, just asking for opinions.

We've probably all done it, either paid for the car in front or have had ours paid for at a fast food drive thru - some may say, well a family having  MacDonalds for dinner aren't that hard up but folk buying a $5 suitcase are more so..

How much control of giving should one have?

Once that money has left your hands, its up to God where that goes ?- I know there are feelings of wanting to direct money to whom we "think deserve" it, according to our own set of morals.

I would think He would want us to be a bit wise about it. If you are led to do that, then great go for it. I think there are other ways to help the needy. 

And fyi, can you be sure that there are needy who would find the money? Many folks I know get clothes etc from thrift stores for reasons other than being poor.

If the sole purpose was for a needy person to purchase the item, then wouldn't that hope be honoured?

I dont know that it would work that way. But perhaps you have different peoiple in your area of the world who shop there.

I think its similar AJ- struggling families, Uni students wanting to dress retro, fancy dress party shoppers, Bo Ho chick fashionistas- a mixture... But somewhere in that mix ....

I remember buying a winter jacket for one of my kids years ago and there was money in the zipped pocket - I remember thanking God and curious about the circumstances of how it came to be -  i remember how I felt. It wasnt much at all but it seemed like a little gift.
