For several decades now, Americans have been taught that they are all victims, and the victim mentality has taken hold on almost everyone.

So just as Adam blamed Eve, and Eve blamed the Serpent, all the left-liberals are finding someone else to blame for their unmitigated disasters. We now have Hillary blaming Comey, the DNC blaming Bralize, the Sanders blaming the Clintons, and the list goes on.  Of course, Barack and Michelle Obama have been blaming America for all the ills of the world for a very long time, while spending millions on golf and thousands on fancy clothing.

Here's the funny thing.  The owner and executive editor of the New York Times -- Arthur Sulzberger -- has written an open letter which on one hand says that they now want to report on America and the world "honestly" but in the same breath dishonestly states "we believe we reported on both candidates fairly during the presidential campaign."

There is a lesson for Christians here.

1. We are to honestly take full responsibility for all our sins and failures, and not try to use childhood experiences to think of ourselves as "victims".

2. Let's learn a lesson from Joseph, who went from slavery to ruler of Egypt without blaming anyone else.  Let's also learn a lesson from Booker T. Washington, who also went from slavery to outstanding Black educational leadership without blaming others.

3. We are to examine ourselves daily, confess daily, and repent daily. The Lord has given us the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit to enable us to overcome the world, the flesh, and the Devil.

4. Before we point out the faults of others, we must deal with our own flaws, as illustrated in the beam and the mote analogy by Christ. We are also commanded to beware the leaven of the Pharisees (which is false doctrine) and their hypocrisy.

Good points.  Number one is of course the most important.  The only way out of a very destructive cycle of life is to finally take responsibility and not to blame.  It is useless to blame others, since they themselves are the way they are because of their past and can be incapable of change because they believe they are victims.  I believe most people have had some trauma in their lives, the only way to break cycles is to follow the other three you have posted.  Conversion, the turning away from self can be a long process, but the deeper our acceptance of our own need for grace the more we will not pass on our trauma to others.  Humility can free us from a great burden.

No. It was the cat . . .

Good points in the OP. Back when I was a kid this was called "taking responsibility" for your actions, thinking about the possible consequences, and "using your head for something other than a hat rack."
