I highly recommend that you read the book, which the movie is based on, before

or even after you see the movie. It makes what you see in the movie as having more sense. You can read the book on line, for free here;

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

While the Dolorous Passion certainly influenced Mr. Gibson, I think it is a misrepresentation to say that the movie is "based on" the book.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It's the book the Gibson himself said the movie is based on, and having read the book and seen the movie myself, it is almost exact to the book.

Why not simply read - and believe - the Holy Bible on the passion of Christ? Wonders never tend to cease! Thank You, Lord Jesus, for giving us Your Own account of what transpired when You died in our room and stead in order to offer us Heaven! John 3:1-18; John 5:24.

It would be great to see a follow up though ....Part 2....."Christ is Alive"!  Now that would be awesome!

I have a sense that the "follow-up" is not going to be in movie form, but in real life. I don't think this was just a chance kind of thing that this movie was made when it was. God was trying to get out the gospel to as many as possible and was trying to remind people that salvation is about death and it is about the cross of Christ. So many churches have taken the cross out of Christianity, and God is wanting to remind his people that the cross (death) is what paves our way to salvation, not only Christ's death on the cross, but our death to our old lives and our resurrection to new life in Christ.

From what I am seeing in God's word and is supported by current events, I think the "follow-up" for "Passion of the Christ" is going to be God's judgment on those who did not get the message. And, it won't be long until we are all (those in Christ) are going to experience the resurrection of our old bodies into glorified bodies as we are ever with the Lord. See Ezekiel 7 & 9 to see what's coming.

It is difficult for me to imagine our Lord and Savior having to enure such pain. Never had I imagined his "punishment" to have been so brutal.

he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.

I did not see the original  nor do I plan to see this new recute version.

I can read of the Crusifiction in the bible  and that is sad enough for me.

What He did for me  for the World  I don't want to  see

I am not into violence in any form

In Christ

The object of the movie, I believe, is not merely to graphically depict Jesus' crucifixion so that we could see how he died for us. I think it is to get us to grasp what we did to him; what our sins did to him, so that we will mourn, grieve and wail over our sin. Christians today are way too complacent about salvation, and this movie gives us a wake-up call. It puts us right there in person with Christ. I'm not saying you are doing this, but what I think is a problem in the church today is we have too many people looking the other way; hiding their faces, because they do not want to see the ugliness of sin and the ugliness of Christ's death because of our sin. I am not in to gore, either, but the movie did move me to bring myself to the cross of Christ. That is what should be the outcome of the movie.

The movie, draws from the book, The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ, which is the account of the visions, Blessed Anne Catherine Emmrich received, of the passion, death and crucifixion of Our Lord Jesus Christ. The purpose Our Lord gave these visions to Anne Catherine Emmrich, is to show us, the mercy and love that he has for us, and what he did to save us.

Anyone who tells you, the visions are not Scripturally Based, really hasn't read the book or seen the movie.

I remember when the movie "Jesus of Nazareth" came out. There were Christian groups who protested to the networks against it, claiming that it was not accurate according to their interpretation of the Bible.

If anyone is interested, Mel Gibson did an interview with James Dobson on Focus on the Family on March 10th. It's in the archives at their site, www.family.org

He talks about the re-release of the toned-down version. It was interesting.

Thanks, Keith. I will check it out. BTW - my husband and I bought the original version on video and since we have our church in our home and have a big screen, we can play it on the big screen w/surround sound right here and don't have to go to the theatre. But, I think a toned-down version might help some people to handle watching it better.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
