What would be your idea of 'quality programming'?  I've never watched PBS that I know of and definitely don't listen to NPR.

Music that is not on regular channels such as the old groups of the 50's and 60's plays, British shows, Celtic music, a lot of things with a wide variety that is not offered on regular channels

Here is a solution that would save money and not drive us further into debt.

We have about 95,000 troops in Europe right now that cost the US money to keep there. We bring half of them home and station them along the southern border.  That is close to 50,000 troops to guard 1000 miles of border.

We save money on troops in Europe, we save money on not building a wall and we save money each year on not maintain the wall and not paying for those troops in Europe.  And our military is actually defending OUR country vice someone else's.

The wall will work just fine. Just ask the Israelis...or heck...even Mexico. They have a wall on their southern border to keep Guatemala and Honduras out.

In a perfect world, your idea would work. But on planet earth, that would destabilize Europe and invite WWIII.  Germany would take the mainland without firing a shot through economic strength, and the USSR would have a revival in eastern europe.

I wasn't trying to quote you Teditis, but for some reason this keeps happening.

In answer to MorningGlory, PBS also has many teaching tools. In elementary school a lot of our music lessons were from PBS educational programming. I have a friend who homeschools. She gets a lot of her materials from PBS. Here is just one example.   https://tn.pbslearningmedia.org/resource/aac16.math.6-8.geo.hearst/hearst-tower-analyzing-its-geometry-and-energy-efficiency/

I like a lot of the programming on NPR, if only for understanding the other side of a debate. Though most of the news is slanted hard left, the arts should be non-partisan. Problem is, they haven't been non-partisan for decades now.

I don't have a problem with their programming as much as their economic model. If they can't compete in the arena of ideas, they shouldn't be propped up with tax dollars to make propaganda.

In the real world, news and media survives on being competitive and accurate. No government agencies have that same standard, and therefore I believe that defunding NPR would be the end of it.

That is something that needs to be addressed as well.

According to Trump the wall will have a deep enough base to deter tunneling

I stand corrected and thank you for pointing that out. It only took a few minutes to verify that you are correct.

I will now mark the group "Americans for Common Sense" as deceptive liars, never to be trusted again.
