I'm a little confused as well. Are you talking "others" as in people (friends) praying for you OR are you talking about praying to God and then "others?" :emot-prettywink:

If that's the case, skip the others. I assume they are people that are no longer living. YIKES!!! Pray to God and Him alone. He's the only one who can do anything about anything.

Ray, sometimes we are too weak to pray out loud. Even then though, the Lord hears the whispers of our hearts, even if they are barely a whisper. No prayer of ours EVER goes unheard.

It does say in the Bible that where two or more are gathered, there He is also, in the very midst of them. In saying that, I would suggest that God hears both the prayers of the individual and corporate prayers (prayers of the body of Christ).

Hope this helps.

Love

Should I rely on prayers of others? or should I only pray to God first than others?

Greetings Ray,

Here are some verses to consider:

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Proverbs 11:14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

1 Samuel 12:23 Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:

1 Kings 13:6 And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king's hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Colossians 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

1 Thessalonians 5:25 Brethren, pray for us.

1 John 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

I agree, the wording of the question leaves room for error.

You don't "rely on prayers of others." However, as brothers and sisters in Christ, we are commanded to stand together and pray for each other.

However, you need to seek the LORD on your own. You need to "rely" first on your own personal walk with the LORD and your ability to hear His voice.

The prayers of others should never replace that. However, "two are better than one."

Sorry to confuse some of you I thought I was clear. First thank you can do and DadErnie.

When faced with a problem or issue; Should I rely on your prayres (Deeze and butterfly kisses) when I have not yet taken the time to pray about the issue at hand.

So should I rely on the prayers that I have told others about this or that problem or issue? So when I find out that Mary, John, Dave and Trish or who ever has been praying for me and I do not get the results I want that I can blame you because your prayers were not effective enough.

So whose prayers do I rely on mine, yours, or both? So if I know we are all praying for the same goal and purpose now if I don't get what I want do I blame God? How does work and how should I react or not?

I hope this is not more confusing for you.

Blame? :)

Err . . . you know the LORD isn't some idol that can be manipulated, right?

Well, if you have asked for something in prayer and did not get the results you wanted, the reasons could be:

* The LORD's answer was either, "No," or "Wait."

* Spiritual battles (the book of Daniel contains the account of Daniel having fasted and prayed for many days before an angel came to him with the answer; the angel explained that he had been sent as soon as Daniel prayed but "the Prince of Persia" prevented him from getting through, and it was not until Michael faught the way through for him that he could reach Daniel). (Daniel 10).

* You were harboring sin (i.e. unforgiveness) in your heart that blocked your prayer (I know there's a Scripture reference - but my search is failing for some reason)

* Not praying in faith (James 1:6)

* Needing to persevere (Luke 18:1-8)

Hope that answers your question!

Greetings Ray,

So whose prayers do I rely on mine, yours, or both? So if I know we are all praying for the same goal and purpose now if I don't get what I want do I blame God? How does work and how should I react or not?

You do not rely on either yours or my prayers. Whatever you pray will be heard by Jesus who is your intercessor with the Father:

John 14:13-14 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

John 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

John 16:24-26 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. 25 These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. 26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

P.S. I agree with Kraz. The Lord's answers may be yes, nor or wait. You just need the "spiritual ears" to hear Him.

i have to say to nebula, kraz, and dad ernie... very well put... instead of repeating them...i will agree... they are right on.

I can tell you what i do... i pray that the Lords will be done... you can not go to the Lord praying with conditions... you must remember... His timing is perfect and He knows what is best for us... He has the whole picture in front of Him... we dont.

plus you should pray to Him more than just when you are in need... it is better to go in the position of asking instead of begging...i also go in the faith and believing that my prayers will be answered according to His will.

"And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." Matt 21:22

I myself have a prayer request here in worthy boards...but let me tell you i did NOT wait for their prayers and expect it to be answered.... now as can do said...

" For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them" Matt 18:20. I find it comforting to pray myself then i call upon at least another person and ask them to pray with me and come in agreement that it will be done.

"Again i say unto you,That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven." Matt 18:19

Prayer is a powerful thing and i think it helps to have ppl pray WITH you... i have seen what the power of prayer can do... but it takes faith, belief, and trust.

I hope i was able to help. God bless!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
