The subplot in the movie shows a character, Josh Gad's LeFou, discovering that he is gay. Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky has ensured that checks will be carried out to ascertain that the movie does not oppose the country's laws against "spreading gay propaganda among minors," the Telegraph quoted the BBC as saying. An MP, Vitaly Milonov, has also called for a government screening of the movie a day before its official release, in order to let ministers decide whether to permit it for a general release. The film's director Bill Condon, last week, in an interview to a magazine revealed the movie's 'gay moment.' Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, is scheduled to release in the UK on March 17. (ANI)

I took my daughter to see the Walt Disney animated version years ago. It was really cute. Too bad this world has "garbaged" it up.

But I don't blame them for banning it if that were the case. Their laws against homosexuality would necessitate that consistency. Besides, it's perverse that animators are making homosexual characters for films now. What's next a cross dressing candle? They use to be a spoon but didn't feel it was their true self on the inside? So they landed in a tub of wax , held a wick on the handle part and said to the world; LIGHT ME! In a burst of self identification and personal freedom? You'll not see a gay pride march down the main road of Moscow and toward the Kremlin. No pink triangle flags hanging in front of homes in Minsk. Russia takes a stand. When I think of Russia's culture now I think of strict orthodox in all ways. Disney is so corrupt to begin with and having that long lived reputation here and that certainly it would travel abroad. I can't imagine Russia OKing a homosexual display in animation from the west.
