I for one cannot understand how a teen cannot just wait until marriage. I know there are a lot of pressures and whatnot in high school but it IS possible to overcome them.

I myself, pledged abstinance when I was 10 and now 10 years later, I've not yet broken it. I don't plan to either. I'm the only one in my family that kept it too. When people make fun of me for it, I think "fine, make fun of me. But I'm saving myself for my soul mate."

I think the main problem is that teens have gotten it into their heads that with EVERYONE doing it, that it is a vow you're expected to break. Almost like the vow doesn't mean anything anymore...sad really...

Something I find totally bizarre -

And from what I understand, this is a problem with teenagers in general -

Is that they do not have the concept that oral and anal sex are likewise sexual relations.

It is sad and scary that our youg people are so blind.

I agree. I was a virgin until my wedding night and am proud of it. I'm right now working with two teens (almost adults) at work who are still virgins. I've talked to both of them and encouraged them to stay that way.

If people would be abstinent until marriage and then stay only with their spouse, we would see such a drop in STD's so quickly. I've never understood how a thin piece of latex was supposed to protect you against disease. If you absolutely knew someone had AIDS or some other STD would you have sex with them? So if you don't trust someone enough that you don't know what they have or don't have, why sleep with them? If you have to have some sort of protection, why put your life at risk? Condoms break, slip off, and could even have a hole in it-why chance it?
