It is a mess in Syria.  Russia is backing President Assad who are fighting against the Syrian Rebels, who want to overthrow President Assad, and ISIS who also wants to control Syria.  ISIS is fighting against the Syrian Rebels and President Assad/Russia so they can have power in Syria.  The US is fighting against ISIS and supporting the Rebels when they are defending themselves against Isis and President Assad.  Iran is backing the President Assad along side of Russia.

The chemical weapons focused on an area full of civilians to take out the Rebels, and possibly some ISIS, but not only ISIS.

The point is, the target of the Tomahawk Missiles was the air base that housed the chemical weapons and where the planes took off from with the chemical weapons.

What is this saying to the world?  It is telling Iran not to cross certain lines, and it is telling China that if they cannot deal with North Korea, we will.  This action is sending a loud message to the world.

God, Your will be done ...

We weren't attacked.

In the end, Trump is no different than his predecessors, they all feel the need to be the Sheriff to the world.  We just wasted 60 million dollars to show the world how tough we are!   To do what, damage an airfield that likely didn't even have any aircraft at it.

The pictures of that chemical attack in Syria broke my heart. I don't care who it is or where it is. :(

The chemical weapons facility was sepeate from the airbase and we didn't go after it, just the base.   50 plus cruise missiles at 1.4 million each..70 million dollars to damage an airbase in Syria.

Can you provide resources that the chemical weapons were not at this airbase?  I heard on both CNN and FOX that they were.

The original plans called for two targets, the airbase and a chemical weapons storage facility. However, Pentagon planners decided late Thursday to target just the airbase.

CNN is also reporting that we warned the Russians ahead of time that we were going to attack the base as they had people at it.  What are the chances that Russia told Syria and they moved their planes?

Trump in 2016           https://www.rt.com/news/366647-trump-syria-isis-russia-relations/

In his first interview after winning the presidency, Donald Trump hinted that he will shift policy in the Syria conflict from one of support for the moderate opposition to collaboration with the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. “Syria is fighting ISIS, and you have to get rid of ISIS,” Trump said. As for the rebels that the U.S. has backed fitfully for the past three years, he said: “We have no idea who these people are.”........

Trump, on the other hand, said on Friday that the US should be focused on fighting Islamic State, instead of pursuing regime change in Syria.

“My attitude was you’re fighting Syria, Syria is fighting ISIS, and you have to get rid of ISIS. Russia is now totally aligned with Syria, and now you have Iran, which is becoming powerful, because of us, is aligned with Syria... Now we’re backing rebels against Syria, and we have no idea who these people are.”

This is correct.

A senior military official said that 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles had hit al Shayrat airfield in Syria. The missiles were aimed at Syrian fighter jets and other infrastructure, but did not target anything that may have had chemical weapons.   http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2017/04/06/u_s_launches_missile_strikes_in_syria.html

That only shows they did not attack the major storage compound, not that there were no chemical weapons at the base.  I know of no military base that does not have their weapons on base, though it may not be where their stockpiled weapons are located.
