The one fact is the major thing propping up the dollar. If that goes away there is nothing giving the dollar value other than our good name. That is not a place you want the US to be. The federal Reserve has had much more to do with our currency than oil, other than the oil has forced us to print more and more money to have enough in circulation for the economy to function.
