It's what caused one round of the Crusades where mostly Catholic's defendende the holy sites around the Holy Land. Indeed, few people know that Muslims destroyed the Tomb of Christ prior to the First Crusade, "The Destruction of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre 1009 refers to the destruction of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, churches, synagogues, torah scrolls and other religious artifacts and buildings in and around Jerusalem, which was ordered on 28 September 1009 A.D. by the Fatmid Caliph Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah, known as the "mad Caliph"[1] or "Nero of Islam." (Wikipeida). The First Crusade was launched on 1095 A.D., nearly ninety years later when the Byzantine Christians and pelegrins (pilgrims) were being assailed by Seljurk Turks.
