Interesting one.  The only things that come to my mind are possibly from the parable of the prodigal son or Jesus decrying those with "we piped and you did not dance, we sang a dirge and you did not mourn."   I'm guessing there's some other reference I'm missing.

Not saying the answer yet, you can find it in the first 4 books of the N. T :)
