Another Caesar

Marcus Tullius Cicero (3 January 106 BC – 7 December 43 BC) was a Roman statesman, orator, lawyer and philosopher, who served as consul in the year 63 BC. He came from a wealthy municipal family of the Roman equestrian order, and is considered one of Rome's greatest orators and prose stylists. His account of the honours given to Julius Caesar while he was alive states that in Rome they were already and unambiguously those of a full blown god(deus). In addition to Cicero's testimony historians tell us that following senate approval an ivory statue in the likeness of Caesar was to be carried at all public religious processions, and another statue of him was placed in the temple of Quirinus with the inscription "To the Invincible God."

To the Roman people, Quirinus was the deified likeness of the city's founder and first King, Romulus. This act clearly identified Caesar not only on equal terms with the divine, but with the kings as well.

Julius Caesar was assassinated 15th March 44BC and in 42BC was formally deified as the Divine Julius.

His successor Caesar Augustus henceforth became Divi filius ("Son of the Divine One"), and some but not all Roman Emperors of the 1st to 4th centuries also claimed divinity, including Tiberius 14–37AD, Caligula 37–41AD, Claudius 41–54AD, Hadrian 117–138AD, Commodus 161–192AD, Constantine I 306–312AD, and Julian the Apostate 361–363AD.

What a lot of ways there are to oppose God, and what a lot of authoritarians have been exalted and exalted themselves to divine status, so another Caesar won't be anything new. But what will be different about this one called "the man of sin" and "the son of perdition" and "that Wicked"? 

2Th 2:3-4
(3)  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
(4)  Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

For one, the beast will sit in the Temple originally designed by God, and standing once again in Jerusalem, and declare himself THE God, above the Most High God. But this will happen in Jerusalem, in the Lord's own Temple, before all Israel, and I don't believe that has happened, ever.

Yes I know, we are the temple, but the Jews don't believe that. That don't hold to Jesus the Christ of God. They still think they need that stone Temple. They'll get it, and the beast will sit in it someday.

It's interesting that I have heard imams say the Jews should have a Temple in Jerusalem. The new king of Saudi Arabia said something similar. That day is coming.

Yes I know, we are the temple, but the Jews don't believe that. That don't hold to Jesus the Christ of God. They still think they need that stone Temple. They'll get it, and the beast will sit in it someday.

The man of sin is of course a human being, whether or not a genetically engineered one, God alone knows. What age this man will be when his place in history is sealed, again God alone knows. One thing is certain, his rise to the apex of infamy will be concurrent with a global environment of deviant reality.

So you're thinking something is very different about the man of in compared to other rulers who claimed to be gods. Different in what ways?

Yes. The template is the same in that the reality the "ceasars" of this world strive to achieve for themselves is self-exaltation of the highest order, and this requires them to be in control of sufficient ideological inputs and outputs to obtain their desired outcome.

The difference between the man of sin and his predecessors is down to one thing, opportunity. The level of apostasy and deviance of desire worldwide will increase to the point where it becomes possible for "another Caesar", a final Caesar in every sense a false prophet, to take the lead in the idealogical push to place mankind at the pinnacle of potentiality and actuality.

So an ad campaign? A propaganda war? This man rises by force driven by the power of Satan for the sole purpose of deposing the Most High God. It won't be neat. It will be worship or die after years of bloody conflict.

As you say, and such a man would have sold himself on the rush of being the focus of attention. His "charisma" would have a magnetic effect on the non-elect, and even the elect would be deceived by him if that were possible. Alliances would be an integral component in the progression to the total temporal tyranny we know eventuates. Technology would be at its peak, and commercial interests heavily leveraged.
