20 For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.

I think we TRY to forget that God IS GREATER than our hearts, and KNOWS ALL THINGS. But we know deep down what our confidence is, and whether or not we have it. We know in our hearts the things we are doing, because of His Holy Spirit, just as you said above.

I read your last post with a big smile because that scripture was very much in mind as it relates to having a good conscience. I agree completely with your understanding of it.

If our conscience is crying out to us, how much more is God aware that we have done something wrong and need to deal with it to be relieved of a guilty conscience.

I left that verse out waiting to see if anyone would add it as confirmation.

I suppose for the very same reason that churches that preach repentance and holy living don't draw in large crowds of people.

What it comes down to is that denying the availability and obligation for Christians to be godly in behaviour is a manifestation of that Spirit of antichrist.

Hence many Christian pastors are antichrist. Hence, the sheep need to be warned of their shepherds who are hirelings, who refuse to stand with Christ but rather with the world that says sin is to be accepted as reality. Their version of reality is that sin cannot be overcome, that a follower of Christ cannot follow him in that he overcame sin.

I agree FOM, and I am beginning also to notice within Scriptures that Paul dealt with the VERY SAME oppositions in regard to obedience. He makes several references to the obedience that should accompany a follower of Christ.

Romans 1:5 Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name,
