Why do mean people exist? If you read the pet peeves thread, you'll find out that one of mine is mean people. People have been rude and mean to me all my life and (I know this sounds childish) that hurts my feelings.

I think all of us wonder the same thing. Kling to those that are kind to you. Remember the good people and refuse to let things that the mean people say to you stay with you.

Read your Bible, find christian friends and pray! God and Jesus loves you, and thats a very powerful thing!

I don't have any friends. Things haven't been the same since graduation in 2001. I'm depressed alot. I hardly leave the house unless it's for school and church, but starting Wednesday, it'll be really depressing cuz my last final of the semester is on Wednesday.

Matthew 5:10-12 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

John 15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

All Christians to one degree or another WILL BE persecuted, but it is not up to us to return to them in kind, instead:

Romans 12:17-21 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

and finally:

1 Peter 4:12-14 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

I find that if you are nice to those who are mean to you, they will stop being mean to you because they think that it doesn't bother you anymore This is what I do but most people are intimidated by me anyway (women) so for the most part, they don't speak to me lol!

I can understand how it feels when it seems that most of the people you come across are nasty for no other reason than to be nasty. It is depressing and can cause you to not want to leave the safety of your home. But try to ignore those who are that way, and if the occasion arises, say something nice to them. You will have alot who will respond back in a negative manner, but you will find a few who will respond positively.

I think people are "mean" simply because they need Jesus...this goes for the unsaved as well as "christians". It's easy to look at these type people with our worldly eyes and only see the hurt that they cause. It's another thing alltogether to look at them through the eyes of Christ and see that the reason they are like they are is because they need a Savior to change their hearts. Pray God gives you the ability to see others as He sees them. People will always be mean but seeing them as Christ sees them will change your life. God bless!

I find that people that are "mean" are almost always more miserable than you can imagine...something in their life is hurting them horribly, thus they take it out on whoever is in ther line of fire at the time.

You got some good advice...say kind things to these mean people...it doesn't have to be much...you may be surprised if "YOU" are the only light they see in their daily lives you may make some friends.
