The ICC believes that McKean is the only true prophet of Jesus Christ, that only ICC members will go to heaven, and that all nonmembers, including Mother Teresa, the Pope, the Rev. Billy Graham and the rest of us, are going straight to hell.

:noidea:

That would be funny, except that someone actually believed it enough to put into print.

By the way, the ICC has not had a centralized leadership for a few years now. And Kip is not in charge.

I'd be interested to know whether that article ran in the news section of the paper. If it did, then the editor should be fired. This is not news, it's an emotion-laden rant.

You know, I dont know much about the ICC, so I dont want to make a judgement there, but I like the idea of home fellowships.

I think that is where it will eventually go back to, to some extent as opposed to organized religion. It was the way that the early church was and with the way things are going, I see it happening again and often wonder if we should have ever got away from it.

I would be willing to bet that there were more that came to Christ in their neighborhoods through home fellowship, as people were probably more accountable to their convictions because of it. But this is just my opinion and I have no facts, but I can definately see the value in it.

I attended a home fellowship years back, not sure of the denomination or if they called themselves any particular name, I really dont remember. But the intimacy there was great. I didnt attend it long as I had moved and it wasnt geographically suitable.

1- Not an ofshoot.  One and the same.

2- The corporate name "ICC" was adopted because we needed to have a corporate name to identify the whole movement.  Wouldn't make sense to call a church in Chicago (just an example) the "Boston" church.  The name "Boston Movement" was never the official name of anything, just an informal designation that some people used.

3- Nope.  ICC was established in 1979.

4- I have only heard that from our critics, never from our pulpit.

One of my closest friends in the world at the time, was part of the original group way back in 1979. You would probably know him so I won't mention his name.

When I was born-again during the 90s, I contacted him and he directed me to the Dallas church. I was there about 15 minutes before I started becoming ill with some of the "prophetic" views they had.

So I called my friend and began asking him a few questions. His replies ran the gamut between paranoid and cultic. He was obviously well programmed to answer in a circular reasoning kind of way.

According to his view of salvation (as a person who has been there since the inception of the ICC) there won't be but a couple of busloads going to heaven. All ICC.

He really believed that, too.

When I told him it sounded like a cult, he hung up and refused my calls from then on. He has done this to all of his friends and close family, including his parents for a long time.

I began asking around to find out what was going on. The church sends teams of young people to colleges mainly and they look for kids who are alone. Through peer group pressure their "candidate" is then "mentored" into becoming an ICC disciple.

A lot of what they teach is very good stuff...but they do employ a manipulative approach to KEEPING their "disciples". The new candidate is assigned a "mentor" who is in charge of everything from their checkbooks to who they can talk to (including family!?).

If you slip up, the whole group comes down on you....and it's hard to argue with 14 people in a home fellowship who have all been "christians" for a while if you are a new believer, right?

I've heard a few testimonies of people that moved out of town with no forwarding address to get away from them.

5- Yup.  That's the way the first Christians met, in many cases.  And it's becoming more and more popular, in churches of all types, all over the country.

But there seems to be a quite different agenda in the ICC model

In my case, in the summer of 1990, I was looking for a church.  My friend invited me to a small group meeting, and it was the best thing that ever happened to me.  At that point in time, I never would have been reached through a sermon or a Bible study.  Once I met the people and observed how intimate their fellowship was, I then reached the point that I would trust them to teach me.

Different people have different needs.  This was my need, at the time.

If that is what you needed then I say "Hallelujah" for you, Steve.

I suppose it is possible that one of those churches doesn't intentionally manipulate people like the rest of them?

Why do people have to follow religion??

We should be following Christ as he is our main reason we can get into Heaven!!

Religions cause wars and battles amongst people and tho i respect peoples wishes and let them decide which way they want to go, i am always praying that they are still following in Christ's ways and teaching people things of the bible not of anything else.

Just a question for you all

Think to what you preach and follow - Are you speaking words of God and following his ways - or - Are you speaking words of a religion and following their ways?? :emot-puke:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
