New Documentary on 'The Passion of the Christ'

I bought the movie, watched it, and then I gave it to a friend as a "gift". I couldn't watch it again because it was so powerful and sad. My friend was moved by it so I only pray that she was opened to the Lord after that.

Frankly, I LOVED Passion of the Christ and have a copy of the movie but would really prefer the toned-down version (less graphic).I cringe at the sight of blood.

Gerioke said it right: The Lord uses all things for His purpose...and He certainly can use this movie to win the hearts and minds of lost sheep.

Bless all of those brethren who are endeavoring to do whatever God calls them to do to win souls for the Lord Jesus Christ.

That is true. Romans 8:28 has NO EXCEPTIONS.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Constant was sad for other people who didn't see a deeper meaning in the life of Christ because of the movie as she (?) did, and I was sad for people who should have seen the deeper meaning of the movie's errors but didn't.

So we are talking about totally different audiences and I can share in that sadness for the reason she gives.

Since there were very few words to the movie, it relied entirely on images and symbols to communicate. Theological symbols carry very different connotations for different people. They have no clear definition like words. Therefore when communication is attempted through symbols, and thus emotion alone, it only has the illusion of communication and the person only thinks they understand it.

It is all in the eye of the beholder.

I remember being handed a tract on what was wrong with the film. I mean, come on, it wasn't perfect I know, especially with some of the extras thrown in that were not in the Bible- some worked, some didn't. It did do, I think, what Mel set out to do and it gives a very truthful, if graphic, view of what Jesus did for us. The pain and suffering He went through to save ME from MY sin was unimaginable.

To be sure there was a great deal of Catholic imagery in the film. I am in no way knowledgeable enough to give accounts of them though, but do you remember what Peter did after he denied Christ? Who did he go to and what did he do?

What did Mary cry out when she stood before Jesus hanging on the cross?
