Here is a website I ran across referring to the rapture. This site has many Bible verses.  http://www.homestead.com/dclwolf/rapture.html

What is written in Luke 17:34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed, one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

Two men in one bed! Does that sound like the righteous are taken, according to what we read about what God thinks of this? Luke 17:37 Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together. Matthew 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.  Revelation:19:17-18 Do those verses sound like bodies are going to be eaten by fowls? Could that relate to the eagles they are talking about? Does this look to you like the righteous are taken up? Because what I am reading says the opposite.

Anyone? Anyone? And still no response yet from any true church pre-tribulation rapture believers on this issue.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I don't believe that Luke 17:34 is speaking about the rapture, but rather of judgment. I know that some try and use that as a "rapture text," but I do not agree with that use.

Whenever I argue for a specific doctrine I use the Word of God to do so, not the words of men. You could do a google search and find an opinion for just about everything. The question is: What does the Word of God say to you?

1- I have found that people are more likely to open up to me what they truely believe if they don't know where I come from.

2- but many people are going to treat me different since I'm Catholic.

1- However, if I know the real agenda is not the seeking of information to be applied

2- In this thread (rapture), I felt your real agenda was to show that the rapture was a later development outside of scripture and thus legitimize issues like the doctrine of the blessed virgin and papal succession

3- Papal succession cannot be directly shown in scripture. Even of one accepts that the Matthew passage indicated a special role for Peter, there is no place where it is taught that it would be handed down.

1- "Agenda"? :) I'm here to take over the world, OK? But somehow, I think you already knew that about me.

2- If I was in your place, I would just answer the cotton-pickin' question.

3- Yup. :)

Pax, for the record, I like you quite a bit. The fact that you are Catholic doesn't phase me one bit. We've been on opposite sides of a few things, but that doesn't bother me. Everyone can't think alike.

However, an observation I've made is that you tend to steer a thread/topic towards a Catholic vs. Protestant debate. And, it doesn't matter what the thread is. It could be a discussion on how to make banana nut bread... somehow Mother Theresa made the best banana nut bread known to man because of a Catholic recipe. :)

Seriously though... don't be disheartened. I think you're well liked on this board (based upon my impression of your enounters). I can at least say that it is true for me.

God bless.

I would like to hear some ideas from various Protestants on this site of what their idea of Rapture is.

My general view of the endtimes is this. I have read dozens (maybe hundreds) of theories about the end times. Some seem reasonable, some seem like science fiction. I have some opinions in the matter, but I'm not entirely convinced of any one theory.

So I have concluded thus:

When the end comes (and it surely will), only one thing will matter -- either you're saved, or you're not. :) All of the research in the world will never substitute for this. Rather than speculate about a particular scheme, I say live a righteous life, worship God, and serve your fellowman.

Just about everything else is crap.

The word of God says to me in all of Matthew 24, along with all the other verses pertaining to the return of Christ; that it is not at all the righteous that are taken up. I'm afraid that this pre-tribulation rapture deceit has taken everyone's eyes off of the true events of the actual return. Those who are alive and remain at the coming of our Lord Jesus are blessed. The dead in Christ shall rise first. Those people who have already passed prior to the second coming who are in Christ. 1Thessalonians 4:16-18 .....and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air:..... The end of the book of Daniel says blessed is he that waiteth...

Read Matthew 24:38-51

The unrighteous are taken up, that is stated clearly to me. If your waiting around expecting to be raptured away, then you are not aware of being watchful for the actual return of Christ. If the goodman of the house had known in what watch the THIEF would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

People who believe in this rapture are not even going to recognize great tribulation events when they are happening. Because they are so sure about being raptured away. You do not want to be raptured away by the thief, nothing good is going to happen to those people taken. Our best hope is to remain alive throughout the visible coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
